Hello All,
The incoming assault weapons ban, in Virginia , has spurred me into buying the long lusted after Uzi !
I have been wanting one since I saw the vectors for 3K . He who hesitates ...
I like to have spare parts for guns I shoot so I am in the market for a kit with a folding stock .
Does anyone have any suggestion where to look ?
Thanks Unclear .

I feel your pain since I also reside in VA. I’m also in acquisition mode for everything I want before the new legislation.

No worries!
Most everyone on this forum does.
I guess I need to post a whole lot more!

Richard
I mean by all means post more but my wallet wishes I'd forget APEX. :)
I have no problems spending money at the site.
Off topic but my last order was a bunch of parts that nobody else had.
I just looked at my wallet and said ya wanna cry?
I'll give ya something to cry about!
TAKE THAT! LOL !

I certainly appreciate the business.
Certain parts we used to have such a depth of I thought we would never sell out, and then we did!
My wife wonders why I have so many spare parts at home, my answer is that I learnt from my customers to get what you need while it is available.

Way back when I got my UZI I got a "VG/EXE" kit from Sarco that looked like someone had left it in a rock polisher full of sand and then beat it with a hammer. It was comical.

After I sent it back, i never got another one because it occurred to me that I would probably never need 95% of the kit to use as replacement parts on my Vector.

So I just bought some NOS parts that I figured would be consumable. I just looked and for some reason I have 10 IMI extractors. LOL

Buying parts kits made a lot more sense when they were dirt cheap and had a barrel with them. The good news is that if you do buy one at a reasonable price, it will only go up in value. So go for it.

Thanks for all the info.
I bought a very nice kit complete with both stocks and a factory barrel from right here.

I hear you.
I’ve got bag full of extractors in an ammo can full of all sorts of spare Uzi parts sitting right next to a few cans full of who knows how many nos 32 rnd mags still in the wrapper. I’ve shot thousands upon thousands of rounds out of my Uzi. Never had to replace anything. Same thing with the mags. They just shoot. But I’ve got multiple replacements for everything just in case. 🙄🙄

Just joined the club. Got my sear approved. Now to find a kit and parts. I have found diagrams and getting an understanding of how it goes together. Parts are shattered at best. Some can’t be found. Considering turning SA into FA but not sure it would be cost/labor effective. I cannot weld either lol. Any help would be appreciated

How about a little bit more info? Uzi parts kits are expensive but available. You mentioned your sear was approved, that sounds more like you are dealing with an MP5 or an M16 not an UZI.

My apologies, got my bolt approved on a Form3. I was looking for parts and had a sear on my mind. I found a diagram. Anyone know how easy it is to turn a McKay? Just have a lot of questions and would greatly appreciate guidance.

Okay I'm assuming this is an existing registered Bolt with a slot in it. If that is the case the receiver itself stays semi-automatic with the blocking bar intact. That's why the bolt has a slot in it.

If you can't weld you're going to have to get a completed receiver shell or get an existing semi-automatic Uzi complete gun. I would recommend you get a complete gun.

Either way your best bet is to buy a complete Uzi machine gun parts kit. There are parts you won't use but those can be kept as spares or sold to recoup some of the cost of the kit. Obviously you won't be using the bolt, but you will want to take everything off of it especially the extractor as a spare part. The grip assembly is used as is, you may or may not have an issue with a different pin size that retains it depending on which receiver you use. Easily taken care of. The semi-auto receiver has smaller openings for the sear to pop up through and catch the bolt. You will probably need to open these up to fit. You also need the ratcheting top cover from the machine gun kit.

Now we come to the feed ramp and barrel. The semi-auto has a machined feed ramp combined with a restrictor ring that goes around the rear of the barrel that combined with a smaller inner diameter on the trunnion that prevents a stock short machine Gun barrel from being inserted into the gun. You can leave that system as is and get a aftermarket barrel that is designed to fit but is SMG length. If you do that the underside of the bolt that rides over the rain needs to be machined away to clear. Or you can machine down the ring until it's just the feed ramp and bore out the trunnion to accept a stock barrel.

Likely your Bolt is already machined to pass over the ring so probably not an issue but you have to check.

Lots of other minor stuff but that's the main gist of it.

Several vendors have Uzi parts kits for sale currently as well as private individuals selling on the various gun board marketplaces and GunBroker. I have seen them vary from about $375 on up to $700, you just have to shop around and see what's available and condition etc.

If I was in your shoes, I would find an IMI semi-auto gun on GB and call it good. In terms of time and money that's probably the best alternative.

Unless you specifically are looking to get into a project gun.
