I ordered it in December, I was lucky enough to get in on the LAST! group buy for the full size. My dealer received it yesterday! Paperwork starts Monday on it and a new Coastal Can. All I got to bring home was the .22 kit :( ! Oh well, I figure it is like anything else....good things come to those who wait!

Bill Stover right? I got mine from him too, we were probably in on the same group buy. I won't see mine for about a month since he has to transfer it to NH for me.

Yeah I also was on the Bill Stover GB

I bought 3 Full size Vectors and 3 Coastal Suppressors back in December as well.

Bill is a top notch guy.

Yep, Mr. Stover. Nice thing about living in the same town with the dealer. I was all set to get in on another group but Bill came to my attention and it worked out well. Bill and I talked about getting together on Friday to run a few down the pipe, I want to make sure it runs 100% in both 9 and .22 in case it needs to go back to Vector. Might as well go back while the paper is in Washington!

Dustin, are you sure you don't want me to break it in for you? :D I think I will have my hands full with mine. Bill has one of his own now to try out also. I hope your Form 3 transfer is expedient! Maybe you need to fly down and visit your gun before the transfer is complete! :)

Wish I would have bought one from Bill. I paid $2700 back in May of 2002. It just arrived in VA last week. 9 months! I envy anyone who bought in December and have it in-state so quick.

I think my dealer (Keith Barlow - Gulf Coast Armory) jerked me around. He got the transfer papers on February 1 and didn't send until March 1. Told me he has some job that makes it difficult for him to get to the UPS office.

I've had lots of time to buy mags, ammo, conversion kits, etc.

He's got no business doing Title II transfers if it takes him a month to ship a gun!

I don't make it a regular practice to flame, but this guy really was poor. I think he'd let stuff sit for a month or more, then get to it if he had time. It took me 9 months for him to get the gun from Vector and then get it to my dealer in VA (he's based in TX). I didn''t bug him much and maybe I should. Once when I asked if it was in, he said he thought so but was too busy to open the box since he was leaving for a vacation the next day.

But once they got your money, what can you do? In the end, I threatened to complain to BATF if it wasn't shipped by March 1. My dealer in VA tried to contact him as well. It showed up on March 3.

My dealer said he's heard stories that this guy is having money problems. He also says he heard some folks didn't get their guns. At least I know its safe and sound in a vault not too far away.

Keith is close to houston (where I live). He is well respected around here. His situation may have changed, but I don't know about that. The word on the street is that he is a trustworthy fellow. I have been told that it is worth the drive (90 minutes each way) to have him handle transfers. However, 9 months is a bit much. I bought mine fromTodd Straman in KY. He was great. It took about 3 or 4 months to get to my dealer.

WHAT!

9 months to do a Form 3? It only takes 3 weeks , 4 tops! the guy was sitting on those forms for a long time....

That is too long, yes Keith is a respected member on the Bowers board, but that don't mean squat off that board.

I am sure he has had a few problems but most Class III dealers will do whatever it takes for their customers, as long as you don't call them every other day after 2 or 3 months, LOL. IMHO I think Keith got burnt out and other personal problems might have had an influence. I can't speak for him but over the recent year I have noticed his website was down for awhile, personal problems and I think he was treating his CIII business like it was not a hot button for him anymore. I could be wrong but actions speak louder then words.

I had couple friends of mine order weapons from him and did not take that long. But that was early in 2002. I would say choose your next CIII dealer by what others who used them said RECENTLY. You could be a great dealer for the past 6 years but if you have had any problems that showed for the last 4 months. I will be passing for sure.

Very well put. Gun dealers can get burnt out on their jobs just like anyone else. If he's had recent problems, shop around for a new dealer. Karl.

My C3 here in VA said he knew him and he was a trustworthy guy when I bought the gun from him. I bothered him very little. I think 4 e-mails during the first 6 months. After a while, he quit responding to e-mails or his voice mail.

My C3 says he's been hearing bad things about him. Good guy or not, I was definitely a priority for him in any sense of the word. I sent the money May 15, 2002. Gun got to my dealer March 2, 2003. It'll be well over a year from when I paid for it to when I get to shoot it. My form 4 is sitting in the Fairfax County Sheriff's office at this point.

Deal with him at your own risk. All I can say is that if I ever buy another C3 weapon, it'll be from someone in state, preferably in the area.

Looks like he realizes it. His web page says he is not accepting any new business. At least he knows when he is in over his head. Too bad he didn't take care of his current customers first.

Lesson learned

I've been very lucky (rather than smart) in picking dealers. From now on, I'll always do a search on Bower's Board of Inquiry before I deal with anyone new. The search allows you to go back into the archive too. If you don't find your dealer there, then post an inquiry.

Bowers also has a board of recommended dealers, but some of them have gone "bad" lately.
