Sounds like the wrong draw bar.
You are on the right track shortening it till it draws the collet tight but you knew that already.

Bummer about the tapper attachment they are probably the most expensive ad on tooling in existence for any lathe.

It's the last ad on I need for the 10x48 atlas I own.
The Enco is super basic I've only had it about 10 months.
Came well tooled and is a gap bed but no real cool accessories to speak of yet.
With the move all I've done is get it off the pallet wire it up and fix the bad power switch.
Still need to level it and do a oil change.

Moving a well equipped hobby machine shop sux big time.

I hopefully will mess with the threading stuff tomorrow. Haven't gotten the lead screw to spin yet.

I have never used a taper attachment and I've never intentionally made anything with a taper. Just doesn't ever seem to be on my radar.

I be dumb on the brake. Tying a 120 and a 240 leg together doesn't work. Traced the wires and moved the power source for the brake from a 120 leg to a 240 leg as it should be.

Looks like the rectifier for the carriage armature be dead.
