Considering the guy got the rifle for free and sold it for $1300, great deal for him. The buyer I'm not so sure, by the time you replace all the corroded parts and refinish it, I can't believe it would be any cheaper than a well preserved one. And surely, not worth what an original one would be down the road. But, when a welded up receiver gets over $800, I could be wrong. Good luck to ya, if it's yours.
The receiver looked like it was in better shape than the rest of the rifle.
I really dislike the pitting that was evident on the rest of it. I would be tempted to strip the receiver, replace with an apex parts kit, and refinish.

I'm with DB. Is the bore pitted too? If the bore was spotless, I'd just keep it "as is" since the catastrophic hurricane adds a bit of history and character.
