+1 on AMBI charging handle.... a second would be LEFT side charging handle... one of the best parts of Lage's design in my opinion... distant third would be an AR style rear charging handle.

As stated by others, based on his quality mags you can sign me up. I was watching the whole Sabre/AMP thing closely and was going to hop on board when they trimmed them down a bit. As it stands now, looks like those are out of the picture.

Not sure what you are thinking Marty, but my vote is that you make an upper reciever and keep it as bare bones as possible, therefore keeping the initial investment cost for the buyer low as well as keeping the production more simple for you. We can then configure it the way we want as time and money allows us... Just my two cents...

I will admit though, I once heard something to the effect "Anybody can make something better and more complicated, it takes real genius to make something better and more simple"... I'm sure it isn't easy to create something like this... make no mistake, I will be watching intently though!

There are only but a few ways to make this unit function. I have the proven pat. pend. IP to move this ahead, it is being applied to a poss. production AR platform at this time, again I have successfully simplified and refined the recoil system.

To me, that is not the wrong side for the charging handle. Having the charging handle on the right side I think leaves the left side open for the Valkyrie Armaments belt fed conversion. Wouldn't that be cool?

Scott

BTW Scott, I'm sorry that I dropped the ball on responding to your last message. I read it thoroughly and have been "chewing on your idea." I think your idea could prove quicker to market. In a couple of months, we should chat again. (This Blade pistol stabilizer thing has us prepping shipments 24x7 currently.) Marty

Please make this happen - just a day ago I was thinking of selling my M11/9 and picking up a registered lower....I'd rather save the money.

I looked at your Pulse Recoil patent application...pretty nice design! However, I think I personally would actually prefer to drill a hole in my M11/9 receiver if that would allow more standard AR-15 components to be used. Plus, I think it would better facilitate a DI system (versus blowback) and a shorter barrel for the suppressed 300BLK option since the Pulse Recoil operating rod/spring over the barrel would probably require a certain barrel length for suppressor clearance.

Thank you sir. My design can absolutely be applied to the discussed conversion. The length of op rod and recoil spring (load) are dictated by the round. In the event of the 300 BLK, most likely it would be subsonic to begin with, barrel length is debatable. The ability to make this proposed platform to work with AR parts is in my opinion is a bad idea. NOT saying that some parts should be AR but not all. My thoughts are that the design should incorporate enough available AR parts but also retain certain parts indigenous to the specific design. This would ease the Tech Branch with issues that would delay approval. My design is also DI adaptable.

Please bring this to market before I drop the cash for an M16!!!

Also, this would seriously depress (or slow) prices of FNC/AC556/M16 in my opinion....

Do what ever it takes to keep the weight down. I think the design is awesome. I myself still do not like drilling the receiver but willing to, IF the weight is not a factor. I did not see modifying my receiver for a passing fad of an upper that was not really a portable platform. I held the sabre at knob creek and instantly changed my mind. To dang heavy then the guy says we took almost 2lbs off it. Weight trumps coolness. I feel many m11/m10 owners still want a user friendly manageable weight conversion. If that is done these will sell.

Marty,
This is the inaugural annual bump of this thread until I can buy a Khimera. Any updates to share with us?

You are going to make him wish he never thought of it Esox ;-)

He is probably still swimming in the pistol arm stabilizer blades. We are talking about trying to get a businessman to stop selling plastic pieces for real money as fast as he can ship them and focus on this pet project, and I can understand why he has a hard time carving out time. He's got like 5 different ones, and I bet he makes a mint every time he adapts it to a new platform.

Marty, would you consider open sourcing your ideas, and allowing the CNC guys that chimed in before to work on the g-code and prototypes?

I'd be in for one for sure. Hopefully this comes to reality. I can't afford anymore machineguns, so I'm all about buying uppers/conversions ect for the ones I have. This would be awesome!
