Yep, got those adaptors and Ramlines and Butler Creeks and a whole bunch of others.

If Lage wants to make their upper to take 10/22 mags then that's up to them. I just think that they should look for some better, albeit less common, alternatives as well. If the GSG 10/22 110 round drums work then that would be great. But then the AM-180s would be more than twice as good

Agreed. I might be willing to pay $10K if that upper is made from steel, but I would only pay half that amount for one made from aluminum.

Why do you say that?


Hard anodizing generally has a Rockwell of C60-70. D2 tool steel when hardened is Rc 58-62.


Only downfall is once you burn through that 0.002" of hard ano you are down to raw aluminum which is soft.

is that your worry? I can guarante you that the same thing in steel will weigh roughly twice as much.


What steel do you suggest? A2? S7? A36? 4140? 304? O2? 1018?

I use 15-22 mags in my AR22 all the time. It just requires a magwell clip that is sold by ARcatch22.

If the Lage module has the same shape as and mil spec AR, the clip should work too. Deerhurst made me a custom 3D printed clip for the Max-11A1/15 to use 15-22 mags. I used to use BDM mags but open bolt/fixed firing pin bolts destroy the back of the BDM followers as they pop up to stop the bolt.15-22 mag followers don't pop up and the bolt glides over them.


Maybe Lage will offer a 3D printed clip for the Versa 11/22. The 15-22 mags are great mags, except for some duds S$W made recently.

Another reason for purchasing anything mac is the opportunity lost factor. If sales are not there the belt fed Lage could be a small window of opportunity.

I know a guy who used to own a belt fed (30-06 but set up for .308, and he sold it when he moved to a more urban home and lost his ability to shoot in his back yard), and one of my brothers knew another guy who had a 30-06 belt fed. Both belt fed owners were multi-millionaires. You and I are not the target market.

I hope that Richard can find a way to get the production cost down. I know there is alot to the belt fed tray and fabbing all the parts but I dont barely have 10 K in all my Mac combined and short of winning the lottery there is zero chance I would ever have 10k free. The Mac is after all the poor man machine gun. Getting the cost to 5k would probably sell 100x more than at 10k.

It's because of the cost and time for; ammo, linking ammo, picking up, cleaning, and maintaining the links, maintaining the gun, lots of spare parts, special tools, etc.. Schlepping all of that to the range and back. Even a small one like the Lage or Lima 6 is a huge step up over a magazine fed 5.56 MG. Is it worth it? That's up to you, your wallet, and your other spouse(?).

Similar here. I’ve shot several, never owned one, but I have always been interested (probably like every other red-blooded American male). Based on feedback I have received from numerous beltfed owners, it seems to me that the joy (or hassle) of owning one is very heavily tied to what types of shooting range environments you have access to.

Also, hard for me not to consider that I could buy another MG for that price too. I’ve kind of always wanted a Sten, for example.

There is no question that they will fit in the magwell but you might find they are loose and wobble around, front to back. They are smaller than a AR22 or AR15 mag.

Yeah, the initial cost of the upper (or whole machine gun) is just the initiation fee. Being in "the club" (shooting it) adds up to way money more over time. I wouldn't be surprised if a fair number of buyers for the belt fed upper are owners of rental ranges who want to upgrade their rental offerings to draw in more cash with the added attraction.

As a business owner, I’ve seen almost everything I buy double (at least) in price since Covid. Bought a cheeseburger lately? If the upper is $10k today, it would have been $5k about 5 years ago. Everything Mr. Lage and I buy has also doubled. If we don’t raise our prices accordingly, we are going in the hole. It. Would be like asking those of you with jobs to take a reduction in salary, would you do that? Just wanted some of you having sticker shock to consider that everything is more expensive, and if production of a product or service isn’t profitable, it won’t be offered very long or at all…
