medphys,
i bought (9) 36 rnd mags and (4) drums from numrich.
concord,
would the suomi 36 rnd mags be converted in the same way as the sten mags? i haven't seen the suomi mags yet so don't know how they compare to the sten.

No, the sten mags have to have the suomi catch added to them to convert them. The problem is the lage bolt is a single feed, and the amp has a double feed. The 36rd mags your speaking about are double feed double stack mags, and just are not compatible with the Lage upper. I have 10 for my AMP upper and they run good. Drums and coffins run well in the AMP upper swell.

If the intent of this post is Lage vs. Alliance as opposed to just their AMP product then Alliance has it hands down. Check out their new 5.56 upper on the S.A.B.R.E. thread. Or better yet, rather than choosing one over the other why not get on both company's waiting lists and buy whichever one comes available first. Worst case scenario you'll be able to sell whatever upper you end up with for as much or more on Gunbroker than what you pay for it and can then turn around and purchase the next upper when your number comes up. If you have to play the waiting game, why not make the wait in your favor?

I dunno how, but from the time i picked up the phone to order (get on list) a max-11 to receiving one in my hands was 12days. Thinking I had to wait for a few months like my m11/22 kit, I was pleasantly surprised with the CS at Lage. I hope to get to visit the shop sometime when I'm out that way. I'm for one already sold on LAGE products and customer service.

i spoke with the nice gentleman at Alliance he said they were concentrating on the shotgun and didn't know when they would be producing the uppers again.

The 31A looks "bad ass".....I have a 31.....no better guy to deal with...Richard Lage.

I agree completely!! Richard Lage is one stand-up chap. Great customer service, AWESOME products!! He stands behind his products like stink sticks to #(%! Love his .45 Max-10 upper on my M10!! LOVE IT!! Go the Lage route 100000 & 1%. Maybe with enough business he'll one day develop his M11-22 conversion for the M10! haha.... Ohhhh the joy that'd bring to the hearts of so many young children!!! (I know my 4 kids would LOVE it haha).

i just got the drum and stick mags i ordered from numrich. they're beautiful, there doesn't seem to be a scratch or nick on them and the drums are still covered in packing grease. now i just need to find a use for the 36 rnd mags.
