Legit SM10/45...?

This piece is up for auction. I don't doubt the sincerity of the auction...they're not experts. They just want their 20% premium.
Anytime I see a MAC with the word COBRAY my radar says something's not right. Interestingly they chose a 1978 type manuf date. All the other parts say post 82, like machined bolt and COBRAY on the upper and molded into the plastic grip.
Am I wrong?

Whoever did these fakes used the post-1983 SWD flats and an “RPB IND INC” stamp markings that I have only ever seen on the RPB atchisson throwing knife and nothing else… they used a wire welder and didn’t do the cleanest job on this M11 from GB. looks like the fake M10 was done a little better, and was light gray parkerized.

Here is the same bootleg stamp markings on a couple of fake M11 SAP 380s that have popped up for sale over the years, also done on post 83 SWD “Cobray” logo flats, these have the correct internals, but that’s about it. And a pic of that RPB IND INC stamp on an atchisson throwing knife

as far as i know, there were no guns with the RPB IND INC stamp, just those knives…

The back end looks goofy because he used an SMG back plate instead of an SAP back plate so the holes for the stock struts are open, they should be totally covered by the longer backplate on the semi autos.

Edit: it is definitely not a stamp and upon closer examination does indeed look to be engraved. No clue why they chose to replicate that throwing knife stamp vs the markings on one of the actual guns. Has anyone ever seen a legitimate RPB Firearm marked “RPB IND INC”?

Looks like he did the trigger guard the same way on all of them… a wire welder ground down and sanded smooth.

It's not stamped. It's obviously engraved. Classic CNC font. We do it all the time in my friend's shop.

I was thinking it looked engraved as well, a much better job than the bogus frame kits on GB with the obvious looking dot matrix lettering, but engraved nonetheless. The smaller “SAP” letters look like they were stamped though, unless they were intentionally or coincidentally staggered like that to more closely resemble the “added” look of the semi auto prefix Stamps on the real ones.

Yeah not the first and definitely not the last. I’ve seen a few of these bogus RPB open bolts sell on GB now, I’ve also seen an RPB SSM11 with the plate popped off the magwell and a delete pin installed instead of a selector switch sell on GB as a standard semi auto pistol…. Lots of interesting stuff out there that seems to slip through the cracks.
