Do they make an after market replacement spring for the Sten mag? You know, one that doesn’t take a special tool or make you shit a blood clot to load the damn thing? Thanks, Jim

STEN magazine springs should be 12.5 inches or longer; below that you will begin to encounter malfunctions.

I bought a bunch of newly manufactured springs from BRP a few years ago. I believe they were about $5 each and were about 13-15 inches in length. they've worked great thus far.

I wish I could find Lanchester magazine springs though!

Do these springs make the mags any easier to load? Jim

Hi All,

The spoon loaders are one of my favorites as they work, you can see what you are doing and they are not huge. It is easy to drop in your pocket for when you have to load mags. Best of all is they don't cost much.

Austen loaders are great but have gotten pricey. Nice rounded edges and if you get used to loading good magazines with the Austen you can feel the difference when a bad mag is being loaded (finger ring is in a different position due to wonky feed lips).

The reproduction noted above from GB appears to be a reasonable alternative. I don't know how they can make them for that little money but I'm glad they do!

Enjoy,

K2

Pretty sure the GB loaders are 3D printed polymer. I have an Austen loader but I find myself using my Mk4 more and more. The Mk2 looks a lot like an Austen but it's nowhere near as reliable or as easy to use. I sold mine when I bought my Austen
