My guess is that they are stuck just like us waiting for a determination. I thought there was a different thread about that upper?

It turns out that I fell out of love with the AM180. The more I spent time with it, the more I learned of its flaws... and we broke up.

Strobro32,

Could you please elaborate on the flaws of the AM180? I have been e-mailing Tactical Innovations about every 3 months to see where they we at on that project. I would really like to get one (It was the reason I bought the M11/9 in the first place), but I am getting tired of the non answers on why it hasn't been brought to market yet.

Pros-
Amazing round capacity

Cons-
Price of replacement metal drums
Variations of parts between makers
Fragility of selectors
Ease of breaking plastic drums
Charging the upper will scrape the heck out of the receiver over time
Time and complexity of loading the drums
Drums disconnecting while shooting showering the vicinity with hundreds 22 rounds
Last round getting mangled and preventing quick reloading of next drum
Difficulty of identifying jams
Difficulty clearing jams
Long barrels and HV rounds needed for reliability, limiting effective suppression
Filling suppressors quickly with lead, far quicker than the same round count of semi 22LR hosts

Wow! Thank you for the response.

I am hoping that atleast some of those issues could be solved with the new designs, but some are just the nature of the beast.

I wonder if we will ever see one hit the market.

That’s beautiful.. someone should work through any remaining defects and bring it to market. I’d take two!
