I'm trying to piece together a 9mm setup for the M10 I just got in. I was given a M10 9mm upper for it and got a magwell adapter. The bolt is in crummy shape, for some reason someone ground down slightly on the firing pin of the bolt. (I'm guessing they were following the urban lore of "grind down the firing pin some", but why I don't know.) The extractor is also fubar'd, got a new one on the way. My question is the firing pin itself. This is a older ingram gun. The upper I'm not sure on. But the bolt is the old style with the internal extractor (vs. the slotted bolt for the external pivoting style). The bolt face is a bit of a mess, but it looks like the pin might be a separate part. There's also a hole on the bottom side of the bolt, but it's a blind hole. I'm thinking that's a roll pin in there perhaps holding the firing pin in place?
Should I just use a carbide drill and try to drill that hole and what I assume is the rollpin out then it'll relieve the firing pin from the bolt? (Then turn a replacement on the lathe) Or is the firing pin an integral component of the bolt itself like a Uzi? I was fumbling with it at home and don't have my magnifying lamp to help my not so great eyes.
