I'm trying to piece together a 9mm setup for the M10 I just got in. I was given a M10 9mm upper for it and got a magwell adapter. The bolt is in crummy shape, for some reason someone ground down slightly on the firing pin of the bolt. (I'm guessing they were following the urban lore of "grind down the firing pin some", but why I don't know.) The extractor is also fubar'd, got a new one on the way. My question is the firing pin itself. This is a older ingram gun. The upper I'm not sure on. But the bolt is the old style with the internal extractor (vs. the slotted bolt for the external pivoting style). The bolt face is a bit of a mess, but it looks like the pin might be a separate part. There's also a hole on the bottom side of the bolt, but it's a blind hole. I'm thinking that's a roll pin in there perhaps holding the firing pin in place?

Should I just use a carbide drill and try to drill that hole and what I assume is the rollpin out then it'll relieve the firing pin from the bolt? (Then turn a replacement on the lathe) Or is the firing pin an integral component of the bolt itself like a Uzi? I was fumbling with it at home and don't have my magnifying lamp to help my not so great eyes.

On both of my M10/9 bolts the "firing pin" is a part of the bolt face. It's not really a "pin" and it is not a separate part.
It is a protruding tip machined into the bolt face.

Also, Im not sure from your description, but I believe the blind hole you are referring to is where the roll pin is that holds the extractor in place.

I'm not sure what bolt you are looking at. On a typical SMG bolt, the firing pin is not separate part. There are 2 roll pins on a bolt. They are for the extractor and charging handle detent.

I'll post up a pic this afternoon or so when I get a chance. For some reason there's a hole on the bottom side of the bolt like a roll pin hole, but blind. I guess I was just being hopeful.

You may have a semi bolt if it has a removable firing pin
