They had an announcement that they have sent an upper in for determination. Of course the Firearms and Ammunition Technology Division has changed their policy and requires a complete firearm to evaluate an accessory. How that has effected their submission, I don't know.

First I had seen of it. It was rumored that Tactical Innovations was going to make one. They currently make an AM180 upper receiver for the M-16.

I thought I remembered reading a while ago that they did send one in years ago for a determination and it was given a no-go. I hope they work on it again. I would be interested.

Talked to Thompson Machine about this about 1-2 years ago and he said the atf was able to get it to fire by smacking it with a block of wood or attaching it to a black of wood. Think it was more or less a figure of speech but either way it was dead in the water at the time of my conversation with him.

And thats not there current web site. Not sure how op found it but it looks to be there old old site.

I really wish someone would make a dedicated 22 upper for the mac family that took AM-180 mags or belts. Id want one of those way more than 556.

I think Lage's 11/15pricetag has brought makers out of the woodworks. Bully for us, this is the .22 upper I want!

The other day when I was on Tactical Innovations website I noticed that they have changed the listing for their drums. They now claim to be compatible with the AM180, AM15 and AM11. I took this as a good sign that they are still working on the AM11 project. Of course all of their drums are out of stock so it does not help much.

I emailed Thompson Machine and they said, "Thanks for your inquiry, but we are not manufacturing the M11-180."

Heres a 17 page melodrama concerning the development and subsequent ATF limbo of the TM M11/180 upper. (Spoiler: about 15 pages of "I want one" before the massive letdown of reality sinks in.)

I have emailed Craig from Tactical Innovations, and here is his response from about a month ago when I asked when they will release the AM-180 upper:

"Sorry, no idea yet... We work on it when we can around everything else. We will have it prominently noted on our webpage when available for shipping.

Thank you,

I would really like to see this come to fruition. This IS the reason why I bought my first MAC. I am almost to the point of just trying to make one myself.
