There seems to be a few solutions to adding a K-grip to receiver of a M11/9. In my view, the OEM hanging strap is just plain unsafe. Below is brief review of what is available to M11 owners. Please give your feedback if you own one of these products. If there are other methods I missed, please let us know.

Methods

1) Add a picatinny rail to the underside requiring drilling into receiver.
2) Use the M11 barrel as an attachment point.
3) Use the threaded barrel as a support for a barrel extension with grip
4) use the M11 frame and receiver pin.

Example Products

1) SCA Armory Special ops Tactical front grip

2) FTF Industries screw on K-grip

3) Practical Solutions M11 Flip Grip

4) Surefirearms M-11 Folding, Forward Steel Grip

All the commercial options suck IMHO, so I made my own from an M16 pistol grip and some scrap steel I had laying around:

Forward Grip

I am working on a forward tactical grip that will work with stock uppers on both the M-11 and Mac-10. It will have a forward canted grip that a lot of people are looking for and won't be composed entirely of steel as those tend to heat up a bit. The Mac-10 will be completed first and ready in a month or so.

I own and use one of these and I like it a lot. It's a knock off of the now defunct AutoWerkes Manufacturing K-Grip offered by Erik Nolan. If you do several back to back mag dumps in the summer, it will heat up due to it's direct, (and solid), attachment to the barrel. Down side is dealing with SCA to obtain one. I bought mine from a private party and avoided the SCA drama.

2) FTF Industries screw on K-grip

Is there any K-Grip on the market that's any uglier?! Yeah, I've got one but it's NIB and was given to me. IIRC, They were the only K-Grip on the market prior to Erik at AW coming out with his model. It screws directly onto the existing barrel threads and has a set screw as well. It's NOT coming off and the polymer over aluminum material shouldn't heat up. Although I haven't used mine, I'd guess it's one of the safest and most comfortable commercial grips available but It's ugly to my eye.

3) Practical Solutions M11 Flip Grip

If Sam makes it, you can trust it to be a good solid product with excellent service to back it up. He's been around for a number of years and stands behind all his products. It's interesting in that just like it's name suggests, it flips out of the way and clears the trigger guard. It's too radical and similar in appearance to be anything else but the flip grip that Surefire is selling. Not knocking Surefire as a re-seller of other products... far from it. They're fast developing an excellent reputation for great customer service and fast shipping. We need suppliers like them and I wish them well! I have no direct experience with this grip, but I've been extremly pleased with the other Practical Solutions products I own and their serive.

5) Stony Creek M11 Tri-Rail W/ grip,3 long rails, sling swivel

I owned this rail in conjunction with my Soumi upper made by SCA. If you need to mount multiple go-fast accessories to your M11/9, this may hold some interest for you. If all you require is a simple forward grip, I'd look at one of the other units.

I have the Stoney Creek Tac Grip, but it is TOO short for my hand, no where for my pinky finger to rest... so I had a friend cut up a piece of aluminum to extend the grip, then cover it with grip tape.

I really need a forward grip for my M11 and that is why I started this thread. I figured that I would pick your brains before I bought anything.

There is another variant I have seen that I do not have a picture of that looks very stable.

It involves a piece of metal with a rail that protrudes from the receiver and uses the receiver pin hole as the attachment point. Don't know who made it though or if it still exist out in the wild.

If anyone has a SCA grip they want to part with, just PM me.

I would be interested in a Surefire canted forward grip as well for the M11/9.

HK94, what kind of magazine is that in your pic of the M11 with the long upper? And does this mag work reliably for you?

Not my M11 in that picture.

HK94; I can't see anyone drilling and tapping an expensive, transferable, lower receiver for a Weaver rail to mount a K-Grip, but I'm sure some one has. Take another look at the photo. It's a semi auto gun in so the receiver cost is close to the SBR tax stamp it also required to attach the stock and K-Grip. It would also appear that the full auto safety wouldn't function with the rail/K-Grip in place.

Hopefully the semi lower with the "stub barrel" has been "documented with BATF"... ;)

Here's a photo of Uzi Talk member Garrett's "race gun" sporting the AutoWerkes K-Grip I mentioned in my earlier post. If you're actually thinking of running a WTB ad for a SCA K-Grip, I'd consider looking for this one too. It was THE original from which SCA copied their grip. I like the fact that SCA has provided ventilation in their knock offs which I consider an improvement. Otherwise, the attachment method is the same and secures to the barrel directly behind the threads.

The K-Grip on the barrel extension you posted looks a lot like a custom made FAL type grip.

Or get a Lage upper, and quit trying to polish a turd.

Seriously though, I've seen what 94 brings to the shoots, it's definitely not turds. Just beware of the manufacturers who promote the Mac version of the shrike, I think we've all seen the emperors new clothes at some point, just don't be the guy buying them...

Yet another K grip variant mounted on a MAC receiver courtesy of Mike-Sid.
Anyone know who made this mount/grip?

The grip looks exactly like an AutoWerkes KA2 grip except that it's not attached to the barrel. I can't tell exactly how it's attached, but I've done business with Mike and he's good people of the first order. Shoot him a PM and ask.
