I see some guys asking in the 19K range for these now. I gotta SERIOUSLY wonder if they are getting those prices. I am working on purchasing two of them. I see one dealer with prices between 18.5k and 19.5k. Anyone purchase a conversion lately for anywhere near these prices?

Nope. I bought one from you, and a second one about a month ago. You know what I paid for the Oly from you, I paid $16k plus the transfer for the second one but it came with a couple of uppers. It was from a local seller.

seems high when i have noticed M16 and m16a2 prices going down....i dont think ive seen a m16a2 sell for over $25-27k lately.....when they were over $30k a while back....even NIB M16a1's sit at $26k

for me if your paying $19k for a pieced together gun you should just pay $24k for a original M16

I saw a guy offer up an Essential Arms receiver conversion M16 (he didn't say who did the conversion) for $14.5K a few days ago on another board. I didn't check back to see if anybody took him up on the offer. Add to that, I have and I'm sure everybody who's looked have seen some machine guns go unsold for years, till the going market price reached the asking price. If a seller can afford to hold inventory for a long time, more power to them. It's not like there's going to be a new and improved version coming out. There's only about 175,977 machine guns to be had by mere mortals in the U.S.

I would not say one sale makes a market particularly in this type of firearm. Once several knowledgeable buyers and sellers agree to that pricing then yes that would be market. I see spiwak has some from about 18.5 to about 19.5K. Not sure if he is following ruben for pricing, taking a stab at getting more money, or finding other sellers with similar pricing. Asking prices do not mean market value. That is determined by both seller AND buyer.

John, I've bought a few machineguns from David Spiwak. In my experience, he sells guns for the prices listed on his website (and offers approximately 90% of his resale price for machine guns sold to him). His website has shown he's sold several conversions recently, and is currently asking about 18.5k for one. With current prices of M16s, I'd prefer to pay a slight premium and buy from a well known, reputable dealer, such as you or David.

18K may not be a bad price. I have posted in another thread asking for input on NFA websites and stocking dealers. There were not many responses. There are a lot of dealers that don't have a huge website presence but that get NFA in occasionally and sell in their local market (large markets like Houston, Dallas, etc). 90% of resale price for a purchase price is more than fair. I too am glad to pay that. Had a guy offer me an M11 today and we came to an agreement for about 93% of his asking price. It won't make a lot of money, but you can't sell shoes from an empty box. I believe this puts me with around nine inbound SWD M11/9. There are a LOT of sellers contrary to the myth of "there are no NFA guns for sale". They are available-you just have to find them! SWD M11/9, M16, Uzis, and MACS seem to be some of the most sought after items. Wish I had more!

Great buy for the purchaser. That is well below market even if the gun needed some work.

I'm the purchaser :) Plus, it's in great shape. I don't think it was shot much.
I love the old school look.

EDIT: On a side note. I found out, that in the majority of the GI conversions they used a stainless steel pin in the auto sear. (See Above picture.)

I paid $16,700 from FRANK about 9-10 months ago for a Sendra. I was trying to beat the 41p decision and paid what I thought was about market price for it.

I paid 13.5k shipped with all transfer fees for a Saw-15 conversion with two 556 uppers and one dedicated 9mm upper with magwell conversion bolt and heavy buffer. Going to get it from jail to tomorrow and heading straight to the range... Super excited!

I have seen these listed but don't think many are selling. A Colt M16 has been sitting for a few weeks at $22k. With M16's seeming flat, I considered selling out of M11 and stepping up to an M16. Can't convince myself to spend that much.
