Mac 10 open bolt ???

My understanding is in the ATF ruling of June 1982 all RPB semi OB guns were considered MG's. Guns made prior to 6/82 were grandfathered and later guns came under NFA rules. My question is, all the mac10 Semi OB's out there selling for 800-1000 bucks are they guns made prior to the ruling or am I mis-informed.

Are the later guns illegal?

Thanks
Fast

To my knowledge, there were no "later" guns, except for Jersey guns that were stopped quickly.

There was a 30 day period where as many guns as posible were built, before inventory was counted(& grandfathered). This is why you see a few SAP M10s with machine gun style serial numbers.

I've got an original open bolt semi M10/9mm.
Think I paid $275 for it way back when.
My past indiscretions may have included tweaking the disconnector with a pair of Vise-Grips................for that legendary 'illegal smile'.

Wild,
Actually the disconnector on the OB guns was welded captive.
I know, mine broke!
My welder buddy made it right again.

Open bolt mac's 1982 last year not SMG

Hi, In 1982 the BATF said that the open bolt mac's were to easy to make one run in full auto mode so they were orderd to not make anymore but closed bolt mac's from then on. I know that most of the older guy's know the story & some don't , but i thought i would put my 2 cent's in. I am a disabled veteran who like's a mac exspectually the f/auto's,ihave 2 mac's,3 uzi's,3 Fal's,4ak's(3-47's)(1-74),3AR's A1,A2,M4 H&K 91,G3,53,,93 and last but not least a Daewoo DR200. Not Bragging but no wife & kid's are grown. Thank's Ricklboyd
