If its like the Clinton ban in the late 80's, your ok. They just won't make more of them. Same with magazines, the new ones had "For Law Enforcement use only". Still legal to own. I was a State Trooper then and we did not care who had what as long as it had not been changed over to full auto in your garage. Thinking about it, 28 years on the road retiring in 2006, I don't even know of any of us who encountered a full auto gun, legal or illegal.

So? Have you joined the NRA yet or are you a member? Are you going to do something about it or just whine?
Like it or not... the NRA is the only organization that is big enough or has the funding to do something about the proposed bans. If you haven't joined yet, you are part of the problem.Think about it... 310 million firearms in the US and only 4 million members? That means there is a hell of a lot of people out there who apparently don't give a ratz whatzat about losing their firearms or the ability to use them as intended or designed. A Mac type firearm with a 7 or 10 round mag.... really?

Reading the list of guns exempt from the ban I was surprised to see the Ruger Mini-14 and Mini-30. How is a semi-auto MAC more of a threat than the "Ruger Ranch Rifles"........Maybe it's based off the firearm's name since their logic seems to lack substance, it's all about the presentation and articulation.
Certain models of Mini-14 are banned. Scary black stock turns it from a "nice" gun to a "naughty" gun.
I've also yet to see whether NFA firearms are exempted like they were in 1994. I've been looking for the actual bill text but nobody has it up yet, not even LexisNexis. I don't trust Feinstein to give an accurate summary or the media to get it right even if she did. But the worst threat as far as NFA goes is the magazine ban. M11/9s with 10 round magazines would be pretty useless.

Lots of confusing legal jargon, it almost sounds like they're wanting people to register "assault type" weapons as NFA items. For example if I have a silencer for my pistol, I can't have a pistol with a threaded barrel to use my silencer with unless the pistol is grandfathered and registered within the 90 day window following the implementation of the ban. Any legally savy readers care to confirm whether I'm right or wrong here?

As far as magazines being banned, I'm pretty screwed on M11-A1 mags if I ever want to shoot it in .380. I have one PAM mag and one zytel and that's it. Thank God for the suomi conversions and all the cheap drums and mags I've been able to aquire. In reading the bill my interpretation was that banned guns like the MAC 11 will still be transferable (just with the added hassle of rigorous background checks), but mags can't be bought, sold, traded, manufacutred, or even given away. What you got is what you got if this thing goes down.
Having said that is anyone up to trade Grease Gun Mags for PAM .380 converted mags?

If you read it assault weapons have to transfer a dealer before selling it. Who's gonna pay for that Uncle Sam? I personally think that the antis are gonna have a tough one. But I think the faile AWN of 1994 made America realize the problem with politicians and there dangerous thoughts
WOW, Can you imagine how many YEARS it would take to get something through the NFA paperwork process with 6mos being the norm now.... "Bull pucky", at it's best.... And to think WE elected these screwballs..... IMPEACHMENT/ RECALL...

dont just join the NRA and stop there. go with your state grass roots organization too. here in virginia one should also join the Virginia Citizens Defence League ( www.vcdl.org )

Thanks. Where do you see a registration requirement? I didn't see one in there, just the provision requiring transfers to go through dealers.
Another thing I didn't see in there is any exception for NFA firearms, so machine guns wouldn't be banned, but SBR and AOW versions would.
SBR or AOW wouldnt be banned they would just have to comply with the ban when made in the future. Just no scary features, but if there is nothing prohibiting or exempting the possession, then it is legal. I tried pretty hard to find a registration requirement but couldn't.
Check out page 119 starting on line 19.

It still seems unclear though as to whether "assault weapons" like the M11 will become NFA registered items upon their sale/transfer, or if they will fall under some kind of other regulatory system. I believe the bill may have been written vaguely on purpose to allow it to be expanded through speculation, kinda like what a lot of people in power are doing with the Constitution in general.

That does make me curious to know whether building a registered SBR or AOW would be a way to get "assault type" features like a threaded barrel for example on proposed to be post-ban firearms. Otherwise registered silencers will be limited to host weapons already in circulation only, which is kinda BS.
