I'm trying to mount a buffer tube on my Mac 11. I have an Ace adapter with non-threaded holes (they either caame that way or were stripped out), a folding stock adapter like the one Lage makes except the slots are on the opposite piece, and an AR buffer tube adapter without a boss. I'm trying to figure out where the buffer tube adapter and the respective bolts thread into. Is anyone familiar with this?

You need to screw the buffer tube adapter into the Ace adapter. Seeing as the Ace adapter has no threaded holes, I would tap the holes in the Ace adapter if they are small enough. If the holes are too big to thread for your screws, I would use helicoils or external threaded inserts in the Ace adapter.

IIRC, the slotted holes in the folder mech are recessed, the allen bolt heads fit in there and the threaded portion screws into the buffer tube adapter. The stock adapter that slides into the gun has countersunk holes on the forward side that sits against the gun? Same setup, allen bolt goes in from that side and threads into the folder mech.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for your help. A couple of PSA's:

  • Never close a folding stock mechanism without something to grab onto or you'll need to pry it open with a screwdriver and mark it up like I did
  • Folding stock mechanism + Ace adapter + buffer tube = a long length of pull, even with the stock in the forward most position
