This is supposedly a new gun. Can I fix the light primer strike issue myself, or should I make a big stink at the dealer. I usually dont buy from this dealer, as he makes it impossible to get refunds. Not looking for $400 in store credit either:) So in the other post someone mentioned to check the FP, I did and as far as I can tell it looks fine. Can anyone help me by looking at the pictures tell if this is an easy fix? The hammer looks really rough, is it as easy as evening it up on the grinder, and a little polish? If not I will go fight it out with the dealer. Thanks...

Back of bolt looks like the hammer is striking low? Can this deform the channel? Why would a NIB bolt look this way?

Was this gun ever test fired at the dealer? If won't fire right out of the box, I would take it back, show the dealer that is doesn't fire, and demand my money back.

Unless you like to tinker...

I don't know how far the firing pin is supposed to stick out, but that does not seem to be enough. If it were mine, I would first pull the firing pin, polish and lightly oil the pin and channel and check the little return spring. I would then put everything back together and see if the firing pin protrudes any further out and test fire.

The hammer looks like it's rough from machining and the marks on the back of the bolt is where it was making contact. It's possible that the unevenness of the hammer is preventing full contact on the firing pin. You could square up the hammer to see if a more uniform contact helps.

Dont take it back. These guns are a cinch to work on. It looks like the raised portion of the hammer is leaving marks indicating that the portion of the hammer that contacts the fireing pin is not giving a full strike. I would try to flaten the striking face of the hammer and cleaning up the fireing pin and channel making sure everything is free moving. The biggest culprit to me looks like the face of that hammer. Its clearly leaving marks on the bolt and not makeing good contact.

This is just the nature of the semi auto macs They often have to be tweeked. Its not really a big deal. Dont let guys making fun of your Semi M12 get you down. Its a class III forum so be prepared to take some friendly teasing. They are fun little guns. I have them in pistol and carbine form and dont have any problems with mine once everything is worked out.

Oh....one thing I always notice on the leinads is that more often then not the extractors are not finished and have a sharp edge that can wear a grove on the inside of the reciever. If you have that its best to deal with it before dumping a lot of rounds through it. Enjoy your M12. The worst thing about them is limited choices in Magazines. Other than that they are my favorite of all the semi auto close bolt macs.
