What are the odds of a 22LR kit in the near future?A DOLOS quick change 4.5" barrel and S&W 15-22 mags would be nice.
Lage lists are good.
Technically speaking the challenge is the BCG correct? Everything else should work.
Correct - it would be similar to a Ceiner conversion, but fixed firing pin and open bolt. It would also need to not function in an AR-15 AND technically couldn't work without an attached FA lower.
It’s not that easy.
The ceiner kit is self contained within the ar15 bolt carrier space. How would the m11 sear release it?
To quote myself...."similar to a Ceiner conversion, but fixed firing pin and open bolt." It would require the sear catch too (open bolt)
A Max-11A1/15 22LR kit would be the coolest.
Have you ever held a ceiner kit and seen how it works...it’s a bolt assembly within a bolt carrier shell. The 22 bolt operates within the shell, without the “ar15” bolt shell moving. With a ceiner kit, the bolt carrier (the shell) doesn’t move at all. Just the internal 22 bolt assembly.
Right, since the bolt is moving, it would be the bolt that engages the sear. All I was getting at is it would require a low mass bolt with baby spring (like the ceiner). And like the ceiner the bolt would likely ride in some sort of fixed carrier inserted into the upper. The baby bolt would engage the sear. It wouldn't exactly be a ceiner - I only used it for illustration. There's of course a million ways to slice this problem, this was my take on it. Carry on...
WHY?
but then you would be stuck with a longer overall length than the lage conversion, plus I don't see much use in having multiple .22 barrel lengths on a full auto.
