30rd pmags are $7.74
40rd pmags are $13.78.

Do you think the 40s are worth it?

Drum mags or 30’s.

I’ve actually found from my limited testing that the cheaper sided snail mags are more reliable than the Beta C mag.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. How often do you want a slightly longer mag dump? Variety is the key. I've got mostly 20s and 30s, from decades of AR shooting, but also have a couple 40s and the P-Mag 60-round drum. They've all been flawless. You need at least one drum, even if you stick it most of the time.

How fast do you want to burn through ammo and how hot do you want the barrel to get? It is my understanding that if you run 30 round mags at a reasonable pace the gas tube will hold together. The Melonite treated tubes seemed to hold up better. If you dump 100 rd mags back to back, somewhere during the third mag the gas tube will fail and the gun will become a single shot.

I like to shoot. That is the biggest reason I bought a M16 as my first machinegun. My rule of thumb is four 30 round mags or a 100 round mag, push two pins and set the upper aside until I can hang on to the barrel bare handed. As with most metals, the higher the temperature, the softer the metal, and the faster it will wear.

I hear there is a quick change barrel system that can be used with the Max-11/15. If you want to shoot the Max-11/15 a lot, I would suggest investing in the quick change system or invest in the specialized tools to change the Max-11/15 barrel. Congratulations the Max-11/15 is a great system.

I have a few of the 40s. A couple of them have experienced separation at the top rear of the mag. Strictly range toys imo now.

I have a m16. I will take 8 thirty round mags to the range. I will shoot 3 or 4 mags and let the gun cool before proceeding. The barrel is 11.5 carbine gas. The heat gets to be pretty intense after the 4th mag. For your mag-dumping pleasure I recommend 30 round mags.

Don't you already have about a hundred AR mags like everyone else in here?

Variety is nice. The Korean Beta knockoffs are pretty cheap too FYI.

What are the max dimensions for those? I’d like a drum solution that fits inside an ammo can mounted under the gun.

I was in the the first first group to take delivery of the Max-11/15, but I have only been able to take it shooting once. It was about 10 degrees out to boot. The Armatac didn’t feed as is. The rounds were failing to feed by going over the top of the chamber and jamming upwards. It was too cold to investigate. I filled it with m855 as suggested by Armatac and it was super hot compared to the steel cased I had the adjustable gas block tuned to. The spring tension is adjustable on the drum as well. I really need to take it out again sometime soon.

I like the spade grips. I had a set for the BRP 9mm.

Any details on the spade grips for the Max-11/15?

They are homemade. They are a combination of aluminum, wood, and 3D printed carbon fiber infused nylon. I didn’t want to spend $450 on the KNS spade grips and adapt them, so I bought a 3D printer, desktop cnc machine, and a wood lathe to make my own for $3,500 instead. Haha
