MAX-11/15 Upper How are they, Reliable? Awkward? I've been thinking of getting one and was wondering from those that have one thoughts or advice.
Thanks.

Mine works great. Not nearly as loud as I thought it would be with a 10" barrel. I was going to swap it out for a 14", but decided not to.

Yeah, its kind of pricey, but it really does transform your M11/9 into a different gun.

Max 10/15 here. Basically the same thing. Works flawless. Expensive to buy and expensive to feed. Priceless enjoyment

Mine works great, except it randomly doesn't like to feed from Beta mags. It can go five rounds and stop, it can go 60 rounds and stop. I've tried different mag catches to rule that out and no change. I replaced the feed tower and no change. I use a Magpul D60 and it has been 100% so I just use that. I've been at shoots where others have had theirs be 100% with Beta mags so it's possibly just my mag. It's pretty old.

The only thing awkward is if you don't own one IMHO. Buy one and be happy.

For the price, it's the best investment you can make for a full auto. No question. Definitely buy one.

I will say mine (I own two) are generally reliable, but I have experienced some random failures to feed. So not as reliable as my Uzi, but about as reliable as my M-11/9s in their stock configuration where I can also experience random FTFs, which are more likely with certain mags.

The MAX-11/15 is definely not awkward to shoot but field stripping and reassembly is a little more complicated than an AR-15 due to the IRM recoil spring removal and installation step. So it is more awkward than reassembling an Uzi but definitely less awkward that reassembling my Ruger 22/45 Mk III where I often have to go to YouTube to remember the trick to installing the mainspring housing.

We have well over 20k through one. No egging issues whatsoever. Broke an extractor somewhere around 13k, barrel was burnt around 20k (really surprised it lasted that long as it was being hammered on). Only issue we had is occasional failures to feed with steel case wolf from GI al mags. They seem to have more friction feeding from the al mags. With lancer or Pmag they work fine. Beta mags worked well as long as they had graphite in them. Very reliable. I grouped it once when the barrel was newish and got around 4-6" groups as I recall at 100yds. It was pie plate accurate.

Don’t they use a standard mil-spec AR bolt? That’s a pretty good bolt lifespan for such a short barrel.

How does bolt life correlate to barrel length?

Pressure will be the same until you get really short and if gas is set properly extraction forces should be comparable.

Look at a Mk18 vs an M4. Pressure at port will be the same, but the port has to be bigger since there is less dwell time, which means gas is sent to the BCG faster, and it starts to unlock faster while residual pressure remains higher.
