Good clear answer. I don't think there is any firearm/firearm accessory that will "change my life". Personally, 5.56X45 is my favorite caliber caliber to shoot full auto. Much more power than pistol rounds but not brutal like full power rifle rounds. One gallon jugs filled with water or two liter soda bottles filled with water are so much fun. The bullet is moving so fast, the water can't get out of the way. That causes the bottle to explode. The bottles are easy to pick up after they are shot. Pistol calibers just make holes and the water drains away. Each of us hopefully makes choices that work best for ourselves. Short rifle caliber M16 uppers can be made to run very fast, if that is your thing.

To me range access is the biggest factor to what, if any full auto a collector will own. I live three miles from a Fish & Game club that has four bays they call "action ranges". Holsters and slings are encouraged and full auto is also encouraged. To me there is a world of difference between shooting in a three or four foot wide window and being outside where you can shoot and move.

I know a guy that shoots with a private pit owner. He has a M2 mounted on a trailer. Pulls the receiver from the safe, mounts it on pedestal mount on the trailer, and the ammo and barrels are all on the trailer. He backs the trailer to the firing line and shoots from there. My range would not let me do that, so a ground mounted GP machinegun doesn't have that much appeal. If I had to travel that far, I might not be that interested in rifle calibers too.

shooting indoors at paper targets gets old pretty quick...id only own 1 full auto if that was my only option....i bought land with the main purpose of making a gun range (camping/hunting/atving were secondary).....the land had to have a pit was what i told the realtor

Luckily there's a monthly-ish subgun match within 2 hours of me, so I can take it out from time to time. Currently saving up for some land in North Georgia, where I can get my own Hickok45 setup. Unfortunately that means determining whether $3k would do me better on an upper now, or on a forever home where I can enjoy it for decades. I'm optimistic that Lage upper will still be around in 2 years when I have somewhere to enjoy it.

he was a hunter type guy...in the area we were looking land is very flat...we found Many nice properties.....but i kept being specific about wanting a gun range...i eventually found the property i bought by myself(what always seems to happen w/ me and realtors). I would have preferred a 100-150 yard range, but 45 yards was the best i can get. Driving distance was the main factor....and lucky for me i blast the F away 500+ rounds every time i go there and have never had police come or a neighbor complain. I do get a note on my trailer asking not to shoot during turkey season. Funniest thing is my gun range is the hot spot for wildlife. Endless Bucks and even a Bear walk right through it daily...they are attracted to lead???

ive setup a blind for Deer hunting this year in that spot and plan to build a large tree stand next year right next to the range. It must be some natural funnel that wildlife walks through. 500 rounds does no harm at all to what shows up during the same night.

It may be what makes them show up at night though. However wildlife near an outdoor range behave differently as being desensitized to shooting. Deer stand out at the end of our skeet range just watching us shoot shotguns for hours.

We heard 200+ shots on deer hunting weekend

They show up more during the day light by my range than they do in other spots. Got a 11 point at the other end of my land
He shows every single night. Only 2-3x a month during daylight hours.

I'm on the fence still. My m11/9 is my only machine gun and its a blast, but I'm finding that additional spending on it seems to have diminishing returns. I feel like the Lage max11m2 upper was worth $800 in additional enjoyment, the CF-W maybe (I like it fast). I'm not sure if being able to shoot an additional caliber (a more expensive one at that) makes the gun $3000 more enjoyable. If the reviews come back showing it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and it'll change my life, maybe they're onto something and I'll pay up. It looks cool as hell, and the m16s I've shot have been fun, but I'm not planning on ever "needing" a rifle caliber machine gun, and if I ever get to that point, things have broken down enough for me to ignore NFA.

If the M-11/9 is your only mg, I think the 11/15 is a no brainer. MG’s are about noise/flash/visceral feel, and 9mm can’t hold a candle to 5.56 in thatmdwpartment. Get one, and if you disagree you will easily be able to flip it. Hell, I’ll buy it from you at retail pricing if you don’t agree...and I don’t even own a M-11/9.

Most animals are dusk and dawn. None bed on my land

Roughed grouse are actually drumming in the background while I shoot

Spring turkey hunting is blah but In Fall I’ve got approx 40-50 turkeys going through my lot daily -acorns . A very large bear laid on the ground next to my gun range at a drinking station for 30 minutes and he visits weekly for a drink

Shooting is common in my area. You hear shots on /off all day long

I've got a 200 yard rifle, and 25 yard pistol range in my backyard.
