Regret, canceled due to lack of interest. I guess I will just be getting a custom barrel.

Would all barrels have to be the same caliber?
It seems that their CNC setup is associated with the outer profile and they could independently put in a blank of a different caliber and cut the profile. Of course this is as long as the caliber 'fits' the profile. If this is true then there could be more demand as other 223 options exist for galil profile.
Personally I would be interested in a 300 blackout (.308 with a 1 in 8 twist).
I have had good experience with McGowen's barrels -I have one in chrome moly that works very well.

Dee, of course they could do that, but it would not be a "run", it would just be a regular custom order which might have a longer lead time. An ordinary custom barrel could take several months to get to the end of the line that is waiting on being turned. Some are popular calibers like the 223 Wylde and so all that would be different for those is the profiling. Lead time would probably be shorter.

Can you tell me what the benefits in going with a stainless steel barrel with 8-1 twist barrel over a steel barrel in 1-7? I like to shoot 13", 16" & 18" length barrels would stainless barrel give me any advantage? If I build a Galil SAR clone will one of these McGowen barrels benefit me? I ask because I am not sure I completely understand your proposal on the group buy thru McGowen with the specs you are presenting. I have interest and do appreciate you taking the lead to do a group buy. Respectfully Lou

Excellent questions from Lou. My preference is for a 1:7 twist rate and don't see the benefit of 1:8.

My plan is for a stainless barrel that I will get melonited. This turns the barrel black, and makes it last longer. It's mo betta than a standard chromed lined barrel.
