I am on track to build a post sample mini uzi with open bolt setup.

The one part I have not been able to source is the full auto mini recoil spring.

Can a semi mini uzi recoil spring setup be used if you just cut tye striker spring bits off of it?

Or can you trim down a full size open bolt recoil spring and rod (amd how mich do you trim off?

Thanks!

Had the same problem last month so I followed the guidelines at the above link.. it wasn't too hard.. had some full length rods.. compressed the back side down with vice grips so the rod was sticking out above the fiberboard buffer and just cut a small end off with the dremel. Of course when I released the vice grips the murphy kicked in and the spring went zinging and it cost me a pizza for my nephew to locate it... I cut the spring to the 91 coils with the dremel and filed down the sharp end. Measured the rod to the 7 1/16" and made a flat cut.. then I chucked the rod in my mini lathe and drilled a 1/8" deep hole in the end.. Then I put it back together with the vice grips and peened over the holed end with a small hammer... works perfect.

Destiny,

Excellent, thanks for the follow up!

I will make sure to buy an extra recoil assembly or two just in case the spring or any parts decide to go into low earth orbit, LOL.
