I had a great week adding to my Sterling collection. My fiancée got me a new spec SAR-80, I'm getting sent two Patchett mags, i found a trials Patchett sling and today i went to a military show and picked up a new IWS scope mount for the MK5 and even found a night scope to fit it. I had to pick up a few MK4 stocks from a dealer and in amongst them was one of the very early ones that were made without the nibs and recesses as in the book page 133. On the way back i pick up a nice MK2 from another dealer. I've been after one for a while and didn't think i would find one so very happy I already had the police carbine. In the book it says that the mag housing and the change lever markings have been over-engraved from MK4 parts but i have numbers 98 and 158 and these are not, so i guess they did a batch of parts especially for the police carbines then when they ran out they just re stamped the MK4 parts.

On the pic of the mag housings it looks like it's marked as a MK3 but it's definately a MK2

Those are some very interesting pictures. I haven't seen a picture of the night vision optic other than in the book.

Scope looks like a German Zeiss Orion 80 scope, I suppose the Brit made L1A1 IWS would be the right scope but I think it's larger than the subgun....

Yes i think it's a Zeiss, i agree the IWS would be the right scope and i know where i can get one cased for £1850 but as it's only going to be on my MK5 on display i can't justify spending that much money, the Zeiss cost £450 and still looks the part.

Andy, since your in the UK, I assume these battle hardened beauties are all demilled examples?

Or are they still functional?
