I had a great week adding to my Sterling collection. My fiancée got me a new spec SAR-80, I'm getting sent two Patchett mags, i found a trials Patchett sling and today i went to a military show and picked up a new IWS scope mount for the MK5 and even found a night scope to fit it. I had to pick up a few MK4 stocks from a dealer and in amongst them was one of the very early ones that were made without the nibs and recesses as in the book page 133. On the way back i pick up a nice MK2 from another dealer. I've been after one for a while and didn't think i would find one so very happy:D I already had the police carbine. In the book it says that the mag housing and the change lever markings have been over-engraved from MK4 parts but i have numbers 98 and 158 and these are not, so i guess they did a batch of parts especially for the police carbines then when they ran out they just re stamped the MK4 parts.

Those are some very interesting pictures. I haven't seen a picture of the night vision optic other than in the book.

Scope looks like a German Zeiss Orion 80 scope, I suppose the Brit made L1A1 IWS would be the right scope but I think it's larger than the subgun....

Yes i think it's a Zeiss, i agree the IWS would be the right scope and i know where i can get one cased for £1850 but as it's only going to be on my MK5 on display i can't justify spending that much money, the Zeiss cost £450 and still looks the part.

Andy, since your in the UK, I assume these battle hardened beauties are all demilled examples?

Or are they still functional?
