DO NOT GO TO A MACHINE GUN SHOOT. DO NOT FIRE A MACHINE GUN. You are skipping to step 6, kinda like skipping cigarettes and going straight to freebasing cocaine.

I posted this on another forum why you should not buy a suppressor.

1. First you buy a suppressor for your pistol. Kinda confusing, a lot of questions, but it is so cool. Everyone at work knows you are getting it. You call and check status at BATFE every two months, it is still pending. Stamp comes in, yay!
2. Then you buy one for a .22, Sheriff is a nice guy so what the heck, get another one.
3. You live in a free state and you think, this is easy and kinda cool. You want a machine gun so you buy a MAC 10.
4. You buy another suppressor for the MAC 10.
5. You start reading www.UziTalk.com and start buying Lage uppers to slow down the rate of fire.
6. You go to a Subguns match and shoot a bunch of Subguns. You want a Uzi, Sterling, Swedish K, and MP5 and a belt fed.
7. You start thinking seriously about getting a SOT license.
8. You start reading www.subguns.com and Sturmgewehr.com daily looking for a deal.
9. You read www.subguns.com and Sturmgewehr.com when you wake up, at lunch, during your mother- in- laws funeral, and at bedtime looking for a deal.
10. You forget to pick up your daughter at dance because you are on the phone buying a great deal. another case of ammo shows up via UPS, wife is a bit pissed and suggests you " cut back some". You don't hear her because you are reading www.hktalk.net NFA forum.
11. You buy an Uzi AND a Sterling. You are so excited so you buy a Fort Knox safe for $4000 to keep your toys in. You start answering questions on the internet gun boards about your experiences with NFA toys.
12. You spend your wife's anniversary present gift money at Long Mountain Outfitters on Volumes 1-5 of Dolf Goldsmith's history of the Browning Machine gun.
13. You are watching You-tube videos on how to set headspace and timing on a 1919 belt fed that you do not own --yet. Video was recommended on www.beltfed.com. You begin buying 250 round cloth belts for a gun you don't own,-- yet.
14. A six month wait for a stamp no longer freaks you out. Sending a certified check to a stranger for over $15,000 for a 25+ year old gun does not worry you, well just a little. You buy a third safe. Any of these and your addiction officially has no cure at this point.
15. One day you realize you have 44 tax stamps and start warning others DO NOT BUY A SUPPRESSOR and DO NOT GO TO A machine gun shoot!

But if you do go, try a SWD M11, MAC10, Uzi, Sterling Mk4, SW76, or M2 carbine. One of those will most likely be your favorite machine gun. Also try a belt fed like a 1919A4. And shoot a few suppressed 9 mm and .22s. Take notes, you will saturate.

Have fun
RFA

The suppressed guns look cool in videos iv seen but with all the firing goin on around me I don't think I'd be able to hear it to appreciate the sound reduction anyway... Isn't an m2 carbine a full auto m1 carbine? S&w 76 does look fun to me, like a modern mp40 :) mac 10 is my favorite looking gun! Are sterlings really fun? They look slow firing and awkward to me

1. Something beltfed.
2. Something in 22rf
3. M16
4. H&K MP5
5. MK760 / SW76
6. Browning Automatic Rifle
7. AK47

Re-read R.F.A.'s advice above. Several times. Then do like the rest of us, and ignore it. The one thing that makes addicts feel good about themselves....is other addicts.

I thought he was joking, I just skimmed through it and skipped to the bottom paragraph, which I think he WAS being serious about...

Machine gun tours from Colorado will be there with a Volmer conversion HK 51 (basically a 10" barreled MP5 style weapon in 7.62x51 Nato!) Also fun is the CZ 26 SMG!

Sterlings are FUN. They are very smooth, reliable, accurate guns. They are not awkward by any means, and they have the best 9mm magazine ever made.

Beltfed something just for the experience. Sterling because it is such a smooth shooter for an open bolt gun, Uzi because,uh, well, it's an Uzi! Do try a good closed bolt subgun like a MP5 or a nice Colt just so you know how they feel. Ready Aim Fire has it nailed perfectly. Now I gotta go-haven't checked SubGuns or Strum for al least half an hour!

Iv seen those! Is that controllable? Can it be fired standing up like a G3?

they're all fun. I like the subguns and find the rifle cal guns aren't AS fun because less controllable.
I'm quite partial to my reising but have limited experience (m11, uzi, mp5, hk93, m16, reising)
I think .22 is more fun in the uzi than 9mm and think a FA 10/22 or AM180 would be absolute hoot but haven't fired either.
I'd like to shoot a SW76 and a sterling.. because curiosity has set in.

anyway my point is as long as whatever you buy runs reliably you'll be happy with it.

I'm going to post a reply to this thread, even though my FA experience is almost zero compared to most of you guys.

I have never owned a FA. I have fired an M-16, an M-11, an AK, and an UZI, both "normally" and suppressed, in 9mm, .45, and .22LR. While they were all enjoyable, in their way...they did not spark any further interest in FA firearms for me.

At one point in time, I did consider jumping into the FA world, and I felt like I could probably only ever afford one. So, I spent some energy trying to determine what would the perfect "one" FA be for me. I decided that I would get an American 180. From the videos I've seen, these things seem that they'd be a blast...no pun intended. I'd still dearly love to have one...but I suppose I'd be somewhat content to have an opportunity to fire one. With any luck, I wouldn't fall in love with it...and then I could forget about it.

Shoot a Thompson to say you've shot one, and to understand and appreciate why you'd only want one as a collector gun. Uzi mini is a must shoot. I've got a full size, but I think you should try the mini if you can afford to buy one. Otherwise just shoot the full size. If you're looking at low end, the M11/9 with or without a rate reducing upper upper should be auditioned. Shoot an MP5; even though you can't afford it, you'll be able to say,"Yeah, I've shot the MP5 - girlie-man gun."

In the assault rifle size, M16 in 5.56 is a must do. Don't bother with a 9 mm version. That is a hybrid and a compromise. Likewise, if there's an AK47 in 7.62X39, do it! 70+ million commie bastards can't be wrong!

I'm not a belt-fed affectionado, so I have no opinons thereof.

Best of luck and enjoy!
