I'm going to the OFAST machinegun shoot in Oklahoma this weekend, I have never fired a real full auto machinegun before, what guns are really fun that I should shoot while there?

Just do me this one favor when you shoot the gun-DUMP THE MAGAZINE WITH ONE PULL OF THE TRIGGER! Your paying a too much money to try to pull singles/doubles-get the full effect of the gun.

Ya I agree about not shooting singles or short bursts, although ammos expensive and I don't wanna blow it up all at once... Plus on a few rifles I'm thinkin bout gettin semi versions of so I may try single shot on those to see if I'd like the civi versions

If you want to try a select-fire rifle that you might buy a semi version, here is a tip.... Move selector to SEMI. Full and Semi are totally different. I too agree with at least LONG bursts when shooting a new FA.

I reccomend a fullsize uzi than a M16 and a mp5 if you feel like shooting more.

I hated the MP5, everything is fricking backwards. I have shot much more fun, cheaper guns. Sterlings are a blast, I couldn't shoot one at the last MG shoot I went to, but I am getting one built. If they have something in 7.62X54 belt fed, buy a tin an just blow through it, it is the cheapest fun you can have on a belt fed. My favorite to shoot, out of all guns, is a full auto AK47. It is controllable enough to get 3 shot bursts on target at 50 yards in full auto mode (I am sure I could get more with more time behind the gun). M16's are fun, but not AK47 fun, I actually found the AC556 more fun (and just bought one) I am actually opposite of the guys that say just do a mag dump, I LOVE taking on multiple targets in short bursts, or even the same target, trying to repeat the group a couple of times. AK sights become very easy to use when you know 3 or more shots are coming out when you pull the trigger. It was nice to have a variety of targets set up, with the ability to shoot cars, metal targets, interactive targets, etc. The paper set up was useless after about 10 minutes of a 6 hours shooting period, and the RJ guys love to blow shit up, so that eats into shooting time. If there is an option to shoot a cannon, shoot IT. IT IS AWESOME to shoot a 6 lb (35,000g) projectile through a Minivan 300 yards away with a cannon!

My 1st full-auto was an FAL, (which the owners called an SLR) and that was the only option at that time ;-), however, assuming you're familiar with firearms generally, a MAC or an UZI makes sense. Just remember to lean into it because the push back will surprise you the 1st time.
BTW, 6lb = 2,721.55 grams or 42,000 grains.

While a lot of people are fans of the Thompson, I find it a bit heavy for sustained use. One of the ones I found really fun was the M3 Grease Gun. Slow rate of fire makes it very easy to control. I wish they were more affordable (cause then I would buy one). Oh well, I suppose I'll have to settle for some of my slower fire uppers for my M10.

Uzis are a lot of fun. If you want something ridiculous, look for a Glock 18. They fire fast and have terrible muzzle rise, but where else are you going to fire a fully automatic pistol? I don't think there even any transferable, so if you see someone with one, take a chance with it.

Before I was an owner the 1921 Colt/Thompson was a hoot! Then the M1 version was cool too. I've shot the Ma Deuce, GE Minigun, AUG MG, MP5, and Swedish K. Later (when I moved to AZ) I got a Colt M16A1, UZI SMG, Mini UZI SMG, and a Ruger AC556K (13" folder)... loved 'em all. Today I still have the Mini & the M16. All are SUPER fun to shoot. Expensive now to shoot, but FUN. HTH

this is the reason i say this;
Mac platform, because your here mac-10 talk. and likely have a semi version. uzi, because this is Uzi talk first and is a good platform to feel. MP5 because it has gotten soo much attention and everyone wants to shoot one , but really they suck, just try it once. M16 many of us are military and got our feet wet on the M16 your an American Dammit, we use M16s, ak47 is the legendary opposition to the M16, after all that, been there done that..

IF there is a favorite Movie with a Gun, oh say, Scarface, than go try the "little Friend" The FN FNC.

favorite TV shows like A-team, the Ruger AC556 or Stargate SG1 the FN P90...

With a handle like Ingram MAC 10, I'd think your choice would be easy. Shoot your dream gun whatever that is.

As a rental, I'm thinking the artillery piece will *easily* be over a hindered bucks per shot.

Ya iv been shooting a long time and am very familiar with most semi firearms, just never shot a full auto, was the FAL not fun? Is the recoil on a full auto mac in 9mm really that bad? Iv seen vids online where people fire em like handguns just like in the movies :) is that even feasable with a 45.? And I'd assume it would be fairly easy with the .380 mac 11?

Ya the mac 10 is by far my favorite looking gun, but I know someone with one who I'm sure would let me shoot it, so I may decide to spend my money on something I'm not likely to have another chance to shoot... As for the cannon I agree, especialy when all your paying for is to pull a string, you can stand next to it and watch and get the same rush
