Hi everyone, I'm a new M11/9 owner (lower is in jail at dealer). The whole kit came with a Fleming .22 upper, Lage Max-11s upper, stock upper, a PAI silencer (also in jail), fake silencer, a bunch of mags and a Cobray Swat Bag (way cool). The internals have mostly been swapped for Lage as well, which was another selling point (saved me the work).

It looks like the former owner installed a Masterpiece Arms bolt (I can see a logo that reads "MP Arms"). The stock bolt was also included but lacked firing pin.

Weird thing is that he was running a VBS buffer + the MP Arms bolt in the Max-11s. I would think this bolt isn't heavier than the stock bolt and by adding the buffer it would send the ROF even higher. I didn't even think MP Arms made an SMG bolt, but it definitely has a fixed firing pin and dimensionally it appears to be similar to the stock bolt. My plan is to find a CF-W bolt and not use either of these unless I want to "go old school".

Does anyone know anything about the MP Arms SMG bolt?
Thanks!

Update: I called MPA and they told me that pre-2008 they did indeed sell smg bolts.

Sounds like you bought a good set-up. Now go get a ton of Z-mags before Congress or some other part of the govt does something stupid to make them hard/expensive to get.

It came with 4 of the cheap plastic Zytel(?) mags and 3 of the nice metal Zmags - Im very impressed with the quality of those. It looks like one of the zmags mightve been used, but the other two look brand new. I'm hoping I don't have any fitment problems with them as the serial is in the '86 mid production timeframe. Should I buy the latest CFW-A bolt? I'm assuming the rate of fire using the MPA and Cobray stamped bolts is going to be nuts, especially since I'm still waiting on original buffers. If I was to shoot it today, I'd have to use one of the VBS buffers with either one (the original buffer was broken). I think the CFW bolt + 11s or the 11sk is the ultimate setup.

Looking forward to test firing at the dealer when I get a chance!

The Zytels make decent fly swatters. I haven't found any other use for them.

I have a very late 86 made gun and it runs the Z mags fine. If not work on it or have Sam at Practical Solutions work on it. You need at least 10 Z mags. Many more would be better.

Get the CFW-A bolt - best Mac accessory ever. I mean that. The CFW-A bolt makes it into a whole new gun and a real pleasure to shoot at that. I like the crazy ROF of the stock bolt but it's a bit much if you are shooting a lot.

Practical Solutions only has a very few CF-W bolts remaining in stock. (maybe five?) Once these bolts are sold out, it may be up to a year before another run is produced. It’s a high dollar item made only as wait list demand dictates.

I put my order in a day or two ago. I was worried about this exact thing. Thats also why i chose to buy this whole kit with the 11s included as I didn't really want to deal with waiting lists, despite the long form4 process.

Thanks for the heads up!

Since your dealer will let you test fire your gun while it is in jail, purchase a current production ZMag and test it for fit and function. If it works great buy a bunch more. If the mag is tight or does not feed right in your gun, send the gun to Practical Solutions while you are waiting on the stamp to come in. That way once the stamp comes in it will be GTG and not further delays waiting on work to be done. I am assuming your dealer will be willing to send it off for repairs while the transfer is pending, most will.

I ran it today with a zmag and an old zytel mag. Both ran great and surprisingly the zmag fit better. The Fleming upper was horrendous though. Not a surprise from what I was reading. A couple pieces of spent brass ended up down in the lower and I had to fish them out. I should have lubed it up before testing. MAX-11s ran great!

Thanks for the tips everyone!

Looks like they sold out of all the CFW-A bolts. Glad I got mine when I did.
