With the top cover off, retract the bolt while holding it down. Slowly let it move forward, the firing pin striker assembly should stay at the rear. If it doesn't the sear isn't catching it. Usually because it isn't riding far enough into the receiver.

I tried that and the firing pin striker assembly is not staying in the rear when the bolt is pulled back and released. The sear is not protruding high enough through the bottom of the receiver to stop the firing pin assembly from moving forward. Why is it not working?

That's what you need to determine. The sear could be hitting the restrictor ring, the "windows" in the receiver may not be long enough and the sear legs hit the front edge before enough upward movement, or the sear itself isn't moving enough.

This is the sort of thing you need "hands on" to watch sear movement and see what is restricting it's movement. A factory IMI model A I would think would be in spec, maybe the grip frame was replaced. Take a pic of the selector markings.

Take the bolt out of the gun, put the selector on F and pull the trigger. Do the sear locking logs pop all the way up through the holes in the receiver or does the rearward side of the sear locking lugs rub on the back of the hole?

It looks to me like you have a mix of new style and old-style parts in the lower. There appear to be legs on the inside of the sear which makes it a new style sear. Which it should be in a IMI model A. But the trigger disconnect, spring, and keeper are all old style. They don't work together. It's also missing the stop dog at the front to work with that sear.

You don't need the spring keeper in the new style, so you just need three parts. You can use the same trigger, just drive out the roll pin and replace the disconnector. The only place I know that has the new style disconnector is Northridge International.

Richard Hoffman made a video explaining the differences.

I decided to ship Uzi to AKarms and I got it back last Monday. AKarms stated that there was a mix of trigger group parts. Yesterday I took it to the range and shot it and it is fixed! It is a nice little gun to shoot.
