Lookee here, it's a real Sterling!

Here it is. Note factory scope rail studs. Importer is Cassi, Colorado Springs, Co. The bible neglected to include this importer.

Congrats John C! Very nice photos! Let us know how it shoots. I have not shot a MK7, but my guess is that it is very accurate despite its shortened barrel. Kind of like comparing the HK MP5K vs. a full size MP5. The MP5K has no problem keeping up with the full size in the accuracy department.

Looks like an importer's marking was crossed out/dotted out underneath the Sterling mark on the left side of the trigger housing? Possibly the crossed out importer is in the bible? Hate to think the bible left some things out, probably so, but it's still the best reference out there for the Sterling.

Just missing the MK5 now ... ;)

This original Sterling marking 'with importer' was applied at the Sterling factory at the request of the U.S. importer. The markings were applied with a roll stamp before the pistol grip frame was assembled on the tube.

Probably an earlier vintage than John C's because there is no warning about reading the owner's manual.

You guys are tough but I'm not down and out. The markings under the cross-hatching are Armscorp of America (bible pg .232). The "AA" in the serial number confirms the original marks and it's not surprising Sterling would not re-serial the receiver for the Cassi Corp., the actual importer.

Here's where I one-up you guys: I have it on 2 good authorities that the bible is not totally accurate. One: Cassi was a known importer whose name was left out of the bible. Two: Laidler and Howroyd failed to visit the MoD Pattern Room when they assembled the information for The Guns of Dagenham". I would tell you the unimpeachable sources of this info but I would have to track you all down and kill you. So there!

I haven't had a chance to run to the range to try out the Mk7 but it's really kinda bulky and heavy. Using the sling seemed to make it feel easier to handle and hip shots should be EZ. I've got an order in to PS Arms for a plastic Sterling stock and special end cap from and SBR it. I've shot an Mk7A4 and the stock REALLY helps. A real blast going full auto in a pistol!!!!

One pic I forgot: note the barrel portion at he left end of the firing pin has a spring pin showing the FP is made from 2-pieces.

Thanks TFA, but I wouldn't think of putting that dopey looking foregrip on. Kinda like swine before pearls. Maybe I'll try the factory grip strap.

Vegas, is your Mk7 that hard to hold on to? I read somewhere that PS Arms MAY be getting ready to make a run of cloned vertical front handgrips but if you need one quickly I'd see what TFA has to offer. Or you can make your own up using a revolving handle (McMaster-Carr #6308K44) or a folding revolving handle (#62705K41) for the big bucks.

I NEED a fore grip! Please let me know what it will take to get one!!

Contact me on the side and we will proceed. Paul has been stating that he was going to have some made but has never gone forward. I have an original and have made copies from Delrin stock. Can't tell the difference between them.

John C. Thanks for posting all those photos! Nice, nice gun! Sorry for the misunderstanding as I don't own a MK7. I just like the looks of the factory grip and want one for my MK4. It should be easier to support the Sterling with it's side mounted mag well.

TFA, Please check your email and thank you sir!

Mk7 RANGE REPORT

I finally got out to the range yesterday to try out the Sterling pistol. It certainly is....uh different. The Mk7 is heavy, bulky and isn't well balanced. As a lefty it's tough to hold since there is so little shroud to hold on to and holding it further back put my hand in front of the ejection port. I tried holding it backwards (no not that way, I mean right handed) but my hand kept hitting the mag release and the mag popped back. Finally I installed a sling running crossways across my back and pushing against the sling seemed to help steady the gun quite a bit.

The trigger is not at all smooth like my Mk4 and I only got one bang per pull . What's with that??? :)

There is no bolt hold open device so when you insert the mag use have to push it in hard to make sure it locks in. OTherwise, hold the gun with one hand, pull back the cocking handle with the other hand, and push the mag home with the.....hmmmm, ran outta hands.

I got the Mk7 more or less sighted in eventually so I could hit a 6" x 6" metal plate consistently at 25 yards.

The best part of the day was overhearing the other shooters asking "What is he shooting?" when I put a Lanchester mag thru it :D

Next step? I'll get the scope rail and the buttstock kit and SBR it.

Over & out, John C

Good to hear from ya

Your internet settings must be a little funky because the pix show up here. In any case, use this link to the album: JC's Sterling Mk7C4.

Yeah, my internet security settings are set pretty high.
The link wouldn't go through either...

Congratrs anyway though. I had kicked around the idea of getting one of them from PS Arms a while back but didn't.
