I would be interested to know how many people on the list are passing on this upper? For example, I was number 33 on the original list but my upper is serial number 27. So I can assume that 6 people declined purchase out of the first 33 on the list. If this ratio holds true then around 18% will pass.

Can anyone explain the difference in the recoil mechanisms? I don't own an AR.

The arrm uses an AR15 buffer tube, buffer, and recoil spring which reside in the stock. This requires you to use an AR stock and drill a hole in the back of your mac receiver. If you have an AR15 folding stock adapter, the gun won't cycle with the stock folded. You can swap buffers and springs to tune the gun cycling.

The IRM has a proprietary recoil spring that resides in the receiver. Use any stock you want. No receiver drilling.

There are a lot of discussions threads about it here, and some lesser emotionally reserved members may choose to flame you for not searching, but in essence here is what you need to know:

The IRM version confines the recoil spring mechanism to the internals of your existing M11 lower, requiring no drilling. This easily accommodates folding stocks. It's drawback is that you are limited gn the experimenting and customization you can do to accommodate other than .223/5.56 loads.

The AR version requires a access hole to be drilled in the back plate of your lower to allow a recoil spring/rod (buffer) to be installed. This allows for experimentation and customization with buffers & springs to provide ideal operation with alternative calibers & loads, but it limits your flexibility in stock selection.

I'm sure the more technically gifted among us will correct my statements and provide more detail.

Also, if you purchase the IRM version, you can always buy the parts later and drill the hole to convert it to the AR version. So if you start with the IRM, you can technically change your mind by drilling and buying a few more pieces.

Update

Thought you guys would appreciate an update.

Yes, your number continues to go down as you move up the list. I tried compiling a chart for you guys based on original numbers but it started not making sense towards the end since I had multiple people that would have the same number once the list started moving. We just planned to do this list the same way that we've done others.

However, I can tell you that original #40-104 are going to start shipping on Monday the 3rd when we get the Uppers back from the anodizer. If your number is 40-104 and you haven't seen an e-mail please contact me as soon as possible at sales@max-11.com.
