Holly cow that MK9K is quiet! Is that fired dry in the video? I have been back and forth on the MK9K or the smaller more compact Raptor can and am ordering one of them next week. I have never seen the Raptor fired but it would have to be really quiet to compare to that. I am leaning towards the mk9K even though I don't have full auto issues to really need the MK9k but the quietness of the can is a big plus! I would like to be able to shoot a few rounds time to time in my back yard(rural) without the women who built her house right accross the road from me complaining about the shooting as she normally does.

I own a Raptor and have shot both. I was initially attracted to the Raptor because of its smaller size and lower weight. The Raptor is a hell of a can, make no mistake about it. However, I'm buying a MK9K in the group buy because IMO it really is a better sounding can. In other words, my criteria has changed.

Also, I'm on Vector's waiting list for a MP-5 in .357 Sig. I would not run that round through the all aluminum Raptor, but I just may do so with the MK9K. YMMV.

Thats the boat I am in. I am back and forth between the two cans. I love the sound in several different videos I have seen the MK9 in. I like the lighter weight of the Raptor but am unsure of what it will sound like never seen a video or Raptor fired in person. Like others said if you talk to gemtech they will try to sell you a Raptor which is true because I called them. I want a very quiet can to fire on two Ar15 9mm SBR, Bobcat 9mm SBR PDW, and a new vector mini uzi SBR sure to come along this year after getting interested in the mini uzi while spending too much time here on this forum. All my guns are Semi. Is the raptor quiet enough when fired dry or wet with subsonic 9mm ammo that the women accross the road about 100-150 yards from me would not hear or have a hard time hearing me shot a few rounds time to time into my sand pile? I shoot my supressed 22 rifles all the time she does not have a clue when I fire them. I do most of my shooting at my ranch but sometimes get a new scope or optic and can't wait to try it out and sight it in after work in the yard. I would just hammer away as it's a rural area but I buy Hay for my cattle every year from her so I have to try to be nice no matter how crazy she is about gun fire!!

Keep in mind that you really can't judge the sound of any can from a video. If the sound of the can is your ultimate criteria, you really need to hear them in person.

yes, I know a video is not totally honest way to judge a can as distance from camera,different types of camera and so on and change the sound somewhat and loudness. It's about the best I have though other than just ordering blind.My dealer does not stock these cans and I know no one around here but me and one guy who own suppressors and mine are 22rimefire cans and his are 22 rimefire, 223,308cans.

The tone you hear is roughly like what it sounds like when I am wearing my Tac-6 peltor muffs.

Nice and low tone. However the volume is louder, than in the video.

The can was shot dry with my own subsonic reloads and the camera was about 15 to 20 feet away. I let my father shoot my UZI with the MK9K on it and stood back behind him about ten feet and I was amazed how quiet it was. I am very satisfied with the performance of the Gemtech MK9K.

Thanks for letting me know. I was especially curious to see if it was "off the shelf" ammo. I don't reload, and am always looking to see what is available in commercially made subsonic 9mm.

Ahhhhh....the MK9K....very sweet.

Gemtech wants to sell Raptors because they are easier to manufacture. The MK-9K involves more hand labor. This is the reason they were out of production....until we set up the group buy. They were busy filling gov't contracts and the raptor is much easier to produce. Everyone has their own opinion, and the raptor Is a nice can.....but the MK-9K is the best 9mm subgun suppressor I have ever seen, heard, or used.
