East Texas Crew Spring Open Shoot and SMG Match
The Longview shoot last fall was a blast and we had a great turnout. The cooking that Firebugfab did was awesome and the pure excess of Class III goodness was overwhelming…check here to see what you missed:

The East Texas Crew is putting together another great event this time and we’d love to see everyone that turned out last time back again, along with their brother, their wife/girlfriend or both, their dad, their friend, their friend’s brother, their friend’s brother’s stepson, his friends, the pool guy, the mailman, the cable installer, and of course your favorite Class III uncle…
Here are the particulars for the open shoot:
When: April 26, 2008 – Saturday 9:00 am ‘til dark
Where: East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club (ETRPC) East Texas Rifle & Pistol Club
FYI: The range is located near Longview just off of I-20. 2 hours from Dallas, 3-1/2 hours from Houston, 4 Hours from Austin. ETRPC Shooting Range
How Much: $15 general range fee, includes all day shooting and lunch, OR $40 for SMG match includes match fee, range fee, and lunch
Events for the day: Open shooting all day, the SMG Match, a dedicated silencer testing area (bring your silencer to see how it stacks up), and Firebugfab’s Texas renowned barbeque
You will need to bring drinks, chairs, shade, shooting stuff, targets and props and target stands, sun screen, NFA paper work, and other typical stuff when you go shooting.
There are bathroom facilities on the premises and most of the shooting bays have shade. There are restaurants within 15 minutes of the range along with shopping and a Wal-Mart (in case you need a draw-down receipt checker story). These facilities are nice so we won’t have to worry about squatting in the woods….
The range is a great range and a great facility to shoot at. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
The Spring 2008 East Texas Crew SMG Match
Registration: starts at 10:00 am
Match start: 11:00 am
Round Count: a minimum of 175 rounds, probably more like 300 if you shoot as bad as I do…..
Stages: 7 stages including paper and steel
Prizes: as long as we have 15 competitors for the SMG shoot the prizes will be as follows (otherwise payouts will have to be adjusted if fewer people shoot the match):
1st place - $150
2nd place - $100
3rd place - $50
The SMG match will be setup prior to registration and will offer a high round count, fun but challenging shooting, and alto of fun. The stages have been designed to mix paper with steel and some are designed to benefit the high rate of fire guys where other stages will benefit the low rate of fire guys. This SMG match promises to be a well run and exciting match that you’ll be glad you came to.
All participants in the SMG class must have a fully automatic SMG to participate (you may use a borrowed SMG if you can find someone willing to let you shoot it at the match). All rifles must be chambered in a pistol caliber. Match rules are that all shooters must use the automatic selection for firing during the entire course of fire. The semi mode will not be allowed for the SMG classification. All shooters must have slings installed on their rifles. Magazines will be limited to the stick type of magazine, no drum type of magazines will be permitted. Shooters must have at least 4 magazines and magazines should be stowed in a proper mag pouch.
For those wanting to shoot the match using a non-SMG type weapon we have created a Semi classification. Shooters wanting to shoot a pistol caliber rifle may enter the SMG shoot. You will be limited to the Semi class and will not be allowed to partake in the SMG prize awards. There will be cash prizes for your class but the exact amount will be determined the day of the match. All other rules apply.
All competitors must have a pistol in a holster with at least 2 magazines. There will be at least 1 stage that requires the use of a pistol in a transition skill assessment. Round count is at least 25 rounds for the pistol.
