Never knew that time- just times when they were way more affordable than they are today.

See also- muscle cars.

Years ago, I interviewed for a job at the NRA. A guy there owned an uzi and I thought it was like buying the moon. Now I am older and they still seem priced that way. Just getting my spare parts and going shooting and forgetting about the brave New world we live in. Some day owning a car will be only for the rich.

It seems Uzi's were trending around $9k Dec-Jan then poof $11ish to $12k from what I have seen with most listings on Sturm, Subguns or GB. And as a footnote just this past month the Mini is $2k above that ($14k) if you take a look around.

If he gets it, it should be a new high for the full-size non-C&R Uzi.

I agree!!! I could not belive the prices some were paying. I've had Uzi's and before I would pay that I would buy a SWD M11/9 with all the lage uppers and 22 kit and do more with the gun than you can with the Uzi.

there's one of those in the FS section for just under 7k. Not worth it IMO. Worth about 4-5, above that I'm not a buyer.

Well, the UZI is an iconic collector item and the m11/9 is mostly just a good trigger pack for updated uppers .

There's a reason why the UZI is worth a lot more than the m11/9.

The M11/9 is a machine pistol, a bad redesign of the MAC that was designed and built by a 3rd rate company.

The UZI is a world class compact submachine gun that's been in service with dozens of armies since 1950. The UZI is right up there with the Thompson and M16 as an icon.

The m11/9 is known as a gun that will shoot itself to pieces and the UZI is known as one of the best SMGs ever.

Kind of a difference there.

On top of that, the magazine situation is night and day - the m11/9 options are either a horrible plastic magazine or a kludged metal mag from another gun that doesn't quite fit.

Compare that to the UZI that has an endless supply of excellent surplus military grade mags for $10 or $15 each.

Don't get me wrong, I've owned both guns and if I had an m11/9 I'd shoot it and enjoy it. It's worth owning but it's never going to be in the same class as an UZI.

My first n00b question, but what makes a vector worth so much more than an action arms? I am assuming open bolt?
