I'm the proud new owner of a S&W 76. Boy the trigger sucks, but other than that I like it.

I'm familiar with the trigger bar failures on these guns that prevent full auto fire. Is that associated with a heavy trigger pull? Is it worth sending sending out to John Andrewski preemptively?

Anyway I've got one factory mag and 20 Suomi mags that I'm slowly cleaning and filing to fit. I've picked up a couple spare extractors, KAK barrels, and I managed to snag a picatinny stock adapter.

I'm planning to shoot it in a subgun match weekend after next and found a 1.4" ID AR-15 handguard that's a perfect fit for the shorty KAK nut/shroud.

I like that stock you have installed on your S&W Subgun..... Adjustable LOP, super sturdy, etc!
Sold the last 2 adapters last week.
I do have 2 more adapters that are 1/1000" tighter spec on the fit. They may require an extra 5 minutes to install?
Enjoy your shooting!

Thanks! In addition to the two little bosses as described in the instructions, I also had to file down the length of the adapter to get it to sit ever so slightly farther into the gun -- the grip screw wouldn't fully thread in otherwise. But after all the filing is done it really is an excellent, sturdy fit.

Great looking set up you have. I also acquired a 76 several months ago. I got a stock adapter from opee also. Which stock did you put on yours? What length barrel did you go with? What brand handguard did you go with as i would like to set mine up similar to yours with an optic. Thanks

The bill of materials on my set up is as follows:
To make this work, I had to file the rearmost ~1/4" of the handguard seam wide enough to fit around ratchet pawl/plunger. Once that's done and the screws are tightened, the handguard is pretty much a perfect fit to clamp on the KAK shroud. This assumes a U prefix gun of course.

In the photo I have a KAK 9" barrel on the gun. I plan to cut the front off the handguard so that it's just one mlok slot in length. That'll make it short enough that I can use the KAK 4.5" barrel and mount a suppressor. Alternatively it might also look good with the 9" barrel and an 8" version of the same handguard.

Thank you so much for the great info. I also want to suppress mine as well. I emailed Jim burgess about one of his suppressors this week but he has no more for sale and has no plans of producing any more. His are super quiet. I hate the fact that all the old school gunsmiths that were making parts and repairing these subguns are retiring or no longer with us. There is not anyone filling their shoes for the next generations. Thanks for all your info and have a great evening.

Congrats on the new M76. I have had mine since 2018 and love it. I got the 4.4 9mm barrel and shroud from KAK. I run an Omega 9K suppressor on mine.

Trigger pull is what it is...I'll stay with the factory supplied trigger to keep it's authenticity.

You can go to the S&W historical foundation, and they can get you a lineage (may be short) but interesting. I forget what they charged. Amounts to nothing compared to purchase price of the weapon

I turn out to be the "belle of the ball" every time I take it to the range and dump 6 mags! Such fun!

Enjoy your investment!
