Why?

I am just curious. Why would you want to spent $39 for a magazine if you get a Thermold or GI Ar15 mag for $12? I have an FNC machine gun and all my GI/Thermold mags run in FA without hick-ups (BTW, they work in SA too).

Again, just curious

Some people like for their guns to be "correct."

For instance, some people with a Springfield Armory M1 Garand will remove all non- Springfield parts, and pay extra for Springfield parts. Some will even pay three to five times what a working M1 costs for a "correct" gun with matching serial numbers.

The black FNC and HK mags definitely look better in the gun.

Thermold mags do look good. In fact I had to look them up after you mentioned them to see what they looked like. Either mag pic you posted is better than the common gray AR mags.

Hey, you need to put a long flash hider on that baby to cover that unfinished portion of the barrel and to cover the threads. My 16" was like that too and I couldn't stand it!!

You're right. Changing that front-end is next on my agenda.

Changing out those FH's is no easy task. I recommend having a friend help or have a good vise, a torch and a pretty good size pipe wrench. It is reversed threaded and a small washer will be inside the short FH once you get it off.

Where do you get your Thermold mags from?

Here is a link to some polymer magazines. I don't know how good they are, but the price is unbeatable

For the original Thermold call CDNN Telephone 800-588-9500. They have them in their latest catalog for 12.99

Will you post a pic of the short barrel gun with the long flash hider? I've been thinking of putting one on my gun also. Other than the hell of getting the short one off, is there anything else I should know about going to the long one?

FN finished all the rifles as if they were 18" with the long FH thus the crappy look with the 16" and short FH. I always thought it was safe wear on the barrel until I saw other rifles with the same look. The long FH totally covers that unfinished portion and the threads. It also allows for the tubular bayonet to be attached. Remember it is reversed threaded and there is a washer inside the short FH, you may have to stick a screwdriver thru the front end to get it out.

The only pic I had of my gun is with the full stock(I like it better like this than with the folder) and my wife showing it off in contest shape. I think it looks 100% better with the long FH.
