New Golani's being sold in box?

Hi! I have searched the forum for an answer to my question but am having trouble finding the answer. I would like to inquire if anyone knows if Century Arms International is still producing new Golani's to be purchased at gun shops such as cabela's. If not, does anyone have a sense for when they stopped making them and in your experience if they would possibly be making them again in the future (IE. do you know if they make them..stop for while...make more...etc)? I'm hesitant to do something drastic and drop $1,000 on gunbroker on a Golani when everywhere I read suggests they are worth 1/2 that, however, I'm fearful that our communist government will block the sale of semi-auto rifles, especially foreign imports and so the other side of me wants to buy one on Gunbroker immediately. What are your thoughts?

For anyone who knows, what is the latest over-the-counter (IE not inflated by fear of legistlation) price for a Golani at say, Cabelas?

I am new to the forum so I apologize in advance for my noobiness and thank you for your help!

Welcome, as to your answer I don't have anything less than an opinion. Century vs a Kit build by a reputable gun smith.
A lot of people have bought the Galani and had problems (Workmanship) some have had no problems. Some smiths
make a living fixing Century rifles and not just Galanis for this I stay away. Build from a kit between $1500 and $2000
and you have a fine tuned rifle you will be proud of and others will admire.

Thanks for the advice DV. My problem right now is 1) not enough money for legit Galil and I feel I need to rush this due to the panic (can you tell I'm panicking?) & 2) I'm guessing the kits for a legit galil are even less available than the Golani's at this point, and therefore even higher priced. When you say between $1,500 - $2,000 are you referring to regular prices, and if so the inflated prices to get a kit right now must be even higher? I know it's my own fault for procrastinating, I'm so pissed I procrastinated and now I'm panicked and just want to get something that is like a Galil, which I believe to be one of the best looking guns in the world. I don't have $2,000 to spend "in a hurry" like I feel I need to before our leader puts in an executive order in the next month (I know it's probably not necessarily likely but still I'm worried it could happen) and disallows me to get it altogether. Even if a ban goes in that still allows transfers the inherent value of this gun will sky-rocket if they disallow foreign importing. I might be completely off base here so if I am please slap me down and put me in my place, and educate me :)

Can you direct me to a good place to start looking for a kit? Again I apologize for my ignorance here. I've owned handguns my whole life but am fairly new to the world of all rifles.

The only place I see Galanis F/S is GB or Strumgrever.com maby someone else here can advise you on the desirable ser numbers for Golanis.
As far as panic it is what it is and people are profiting from it, is it justified its hard to tell. But I dont think your going to be disapointed with a $1000
Golani hek a decent AK it $700 and up.

Thank you Don Vito. I think I might go with a used Golani from a local gun shop if I can, as they will guarantee no FTF & FTE's or they'll fix it. They are charging $1,200 though :(. I have done research on the serial numbers of Golanis. The ones that were recalled were between GAL00001 - GAL02393. If the serial number is between that range, you'll want to make sure it has an "F" stamped on the bottom of the receiver to indicate that it was taken in and modified for the firing pin problem.

Hey Grasoga
The Golani's are a real roll of the dice. They weren't built by Century but were farmed out to the lowest bidder to be built. Chances are that it will require some level of re-build to be a solid weapon. The typical issues are: uneven bolt lug contact -which means the receiver will deform with headspace going bad; the bullet guide being too low -which makes FTF a problem; barrel chambers can be 'rough' which makes FTE a problem; magazines supplied with the Golani can be worn out POS adding to FTF. These things can be fixed but typically involves some significant re-work. Even if your shop says they will fix the rifle, if they aren't skilled in Galoni gun-fu they will probably struggle trying to find/fix the issues.
Some people have had good golanis, many have had bad... It's a crap shoot.
I'm not trying to depress you, just give some insight. Jeff builds excellent rifles and occasionally one of his builds comes up for sale...

1200 bones is twice the normal NIB price. my advice if you want a galil get a shit ton of mags now, you can do that here: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Search.htm?man=ACTION+ARMS&s=galil&results=All scroll down and pick the kind you want. i got 6 of the good to very good condition parkerized ones. out of the six one is an all most brand new imi the rest are used SA i believe. with the six i got 4 that work great and two that dont but will with a little work. a magazine ban is more likely than a AWB. stock up on mags for guns you want to get. let the craziness subside and grab a used golani for $400 when all these panic buyers have to pay bills. paying twice as much for for 10 or 15 magazines is better than paying twice as much for a gun that may spend more time being worked on then shooting. also twice as much on mags may cost you and extra 100 bucks as opposed to and extra $600 on a twice as much USED gun. this is just my opinion.

or you can get a kit here: http://blackthorneproducts.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7_20 (may or may not be a reputable place to buy stuff ask around. and these prices are high but there may also be a ban on imports.) and you can get a cnc warrior receiver (there's a thread for a group buy) for about 400 to 450. that has you at a thousand. then you can have it put together and have something really nice, miles ahead of a $1200 used golani. also i would be suspicious of a used one. give there washy history it got sold for a reason and i would lean closer to the reason it was sold it that is was a piece of shit. search the forums and inspect closely.

I had an early version. While it worked well, it was rapidly losing headspace due to the lug problem in the ORF receivers. I sold it while still able to get good money. I later bought a newer version. I had a smith check out the gun, including the lug problem. This gun had no problems, & has not lost any headspace. GARY

These have been so very helpful! You folks are good people on this board, many thanks for your assistance. Asshat I think I might go the kit route, you have no idea how helpful your post was. Do you have a general idea of a price range for how much the labor would be to put together the kit once I have the kit and receiver whether that be that I use a local gunsmith or whether that would be shipping it to an expert? Thanks again!
