Received my two piece upper retaining pin today (Thanks, Mike !). Put my new MAX 10 upper on and the pin goes right in...perfect. Took the upper back off and installed the gas block, and you know it's a pretty thin piece of metal. Re-install upper. Can't quite get the retaining pin in, just a 1/4 or maybe 3/8" in. Tried from the other side, nope too tight. Took the gas block off and the pin goes right in. Now that is close ! I'm sure someone has experienced this. If so, what is the preferred fix. This is about as close tolerance as you can get. The Lage upper is GREAT looking too!

Check to see if your rear sight plate is bent forward. Lots of MAC's get dropped or bumped and the rear sight plate gets bent. Sometimes, it is enough to prevent the upper from installing.

I did get the upper on tonight. Started the pin in and tapped it lightly with a wood mallet. Worked fine. Solid fit. Haven't fired it yet. For some reason, I'm not supposed to shoot it in the house??

LawBob,
Does it function OK without the block?

I misread this. Mk1s had the gas block. I used mine for a while but didn't have a problem without it really. most of the gas or spit you may get is from the ejection port.

Gonna sound stupid here,

But the "gas block" is that little flat that goes in the top back of the new upper, held in placed with Allen head screw, right...? Man, of it is, I need to check for mine in my Max 10/9 Mk1 upper...???...

Yes, Panzertruppe, that is the gas block I'm referring to. I did get mine together and it is a snug fit, but nothing is loose and that is a good thing. Can't wait to shoot it !
