New to me 392

Just received a Galil 392 preban Ser.No. Range AAL-208xxxx.. very nice condition for its age. I take it that the serial places it just before the ban went into effect. Has the Galil flash hider, wooden handguard, bipod, and folding stock. No significant paint wear on the outside but, the tritium is depleted in the night sights. I’m now in search of an SA R4 sling and have some SA poly mags enroute.

Very nice!! I’ve had mine I got NIB in 1989, the sights have long been dead as well. You can still get meprolight replacement sight sets. You can find the slings on eBay. 24hr tactical used to have a website but is only eBay these days. FYI, General gee whiz stuff. The new IWI Galil produced mags work in the legacy Galil’s. Even though the mags have been slightly changed due to manufacturing techniques and the last round hold open feature added. The new mags do not hold open the bolt. The last numbers of your serial number should be stamped on the side of the rear sight housing. So you can tell it’s original.

Mepro is NLA status on Galil sights. So, looks like an ampule transplant is warranted. I’m sure there’s some surp R4 slings out there, just need to start looking. I’ll take a look at the new generation mags when I get a chance to.
