New Uzi owner, yay!

SO I picked up a post-ban Vector UZI 9mm. I think I got a great deal, I think it was used a handful of times until now.

Took it to range to day, cleaned her up, ran a few hundred rounds through her no problem...except......Damn it is a Bit*ch to chamber a round. I literally cut my finger more than once. The stupid indented knob is a miserable design. Any ideas how to prevent this for you pros? I had a blast shooting it today, was way more accurate than I thought it would be at short and mid range.

Never had a problem with the knob cutting me or being sharp. Is there something strange about the knob? Can you provide a picture?

you can see the way the metal is arched. Miserable design. found a few solutions in the forums so far from simple (gloves) to more in depth parts replacement

Nice looking Uzi! I had a similar problem. I have diabetic neuropathy in my hands and it makes them real sensitive. Please...save the girly hands jokes. Just pray you don't get cursed with this disease. Anyway, my Century Uzi has a pretty sharp cocking knob too. So I will just use a set of Mechanix glves for the range. Tried them out and it works great.

It'll loosen up over time like every blowback charging gun. Awesome choice I want one. Never shot a vector but if it's like some other top charging guns I have the initial charge is the hardest. Try charging it without a mag in put the mag in and the second charge should be easier that way u won't have a chance of jamming the first round. And how did u find that with a less than 16 inch barrel? Where did u get it? Send me a link I'm very interested.

There are some really nice thin leather shooting gloves in the trap and skeet deparment. I have several firearms with sharp edges, heavy recoil and they used to hurt me to shoot them. Now they just momentarily blind me with a fireball when I shoot them.

I do agree the knob is a bit jagged but has never caused me any pain or injury.

If I could find that in semi auto I'd drop $1000 on it right now. Even tho the iwi uzi pro is $1000 so that's gotta run even more. But damn is she pretty.
