my mistake/ they gotta function right? meaning these aren't just "mock-ups"...

tkb022_1.jpg

the only way I can see it working is if it isn't the bolt itself that strips the fresh round- rather a paddle or something that pulls the round from the magazine, and then moving it forward enough for it to get chambered... something like an automated "trap-door" style breech?

those are very weird looking to me

Mine works just fine. I haven't ran any of the shitty Indian ammo I have through it to get some catastrophic cartridge failure to occur though. If you're balls deep in a firefight and there is a catastrophic failure...
*Drop the rifle
*Draw your sidearm
*Commence to fighting and withdraw if necessary

I haven't had anything like that happen at the range yet though, so I'm merely speculating at this point. :dunno

I had to vote for the L85 as I have one being built for me.

I also have an AUG clone and it's pretty cool too!

I'll post some pictures on the L85 when it's done.

I agree with the lack of the FS2000. I have handled an rfb and an aug clone, but the fs came home with me. My favorite rifle right now.

Another vote for the RFB. I used mine exclusively with a Gemtech HVT Bilock. The gun runs very well, trigger is unbelievable, I can't even start to describe how good it is compared to stock triggers, let alone the trigger on my Aug clone.

Field strip really isn't bad to clear a catostrophic case failure. Two push pins and the whole rear end comes out of the thing.

Good question here....and here's my thoughts....

I'm always buying-selling-trading high-end assault weapons. I typically buy a NIB assault weapon, put 500-1000rds thru it...spend hours in the shop dis-assembling/re-assembling/QC'ing...then trade it (at a loss) for the next "can't live without" weapon.

Can't explain why I do this, guess I'm an addict! But I do get to shoot a lot of different assault weapons AND one that I refuse to part with is the one that I find the best built, best fitting and most accurate assault rifle I've ever touched....the FS2000. Not knocking an Aug, but I MUCH prefer the FS.

Anyhow, just thoughts of a non-military "pleasure" shooter (fyi...whent the horde does come over the wall, I'm gonna walk past all the high-end crap I've got to get to my cheap-ass never-ever-fails AK!!!)

Well, old thread but since I have a FA Steyr AUG, I guess that would be the one I go for. Its looks were a portion of the reason for getting it, but what it is, more than what it looks like, is why I bought it. Fun as you know what to shoot too.

The above gun is the one that is making me wonder how the round gets stripped. There is no room, seemingly.

Per Wiki:
"The weapons were gas operated with annular gas piston located around the barrel and a vertically moving bolt, which made it possible to maximally reduce the length of the receiver group. A U-shaped rammer/extractor was used to chamber and extract the cartridge by pushing it into the chamber where after discharge was pulled back from the chamber and again, upon feeding the new cartridge, pushed forward and slightly up into an ejection tube above the barrel where finally exiting above the muzzle. Due to this ejection mechanism it was possible to fire from both right and left arm positions."

So it sounds like a "U-shaped rammer/extractor" slips behind the mag and pulls the round forward into the chamber. Pretty good idea to reduce OAL. Extraction\ejection method sounds similar to how a 1919 cycles. I believe this gun (TKB-022PM) is the basis for the FS2000 ejection system as well.

I have the Aug and the FS2000, I prefer the FS2000 setup better, not as many points to "hang up" on.
