Hi guys,
I was just interested in some opinions about Norinco UZI's, mainly the 320. I have been trying to find one with the underfolder, and just missed one on Gunbroker for a $1,000. Already sold, it had the folder stock and 5 mags and barrel shroud. Anyway I can find the wood stock ones still for about $800, but the folders are going for over $1,000 right now. I am familar with Noricno and I have two of them, an nhm 91, and an sks, and both those guns have performed flawlessly(although I have owned both for many years I have not shot them extensivley). but thier has never been a malfunction on either one in a few hundred rounds.
Anyway I think Norinco makes pretty quality guns, although I know the fit and finish is not up to IMI or Vector. Opinions would be great, becasue I am close to laying down around $800 to a grand on one.

That price seems a little high (just my opinion) but if it's been made 922 compliant, maybe not. I just bought a new, unfired Norinco 320 two weeks ago for $700 at a local gun show. I hated to pay the $700 but only did because it was still new and unfired. If it had been a used gun, I would have passed it by. I've owned a couple of them and have never had any problems. The finish may be ugly, but they WORK.

Anything over $500.00 for a Norinco is too high - the quality control just wasn't there - if you are willing to go a grand for an Uzi' start shopping around you should be able with a little luck find somebody with a Century Arms Uzi that you you can get for around a grand under current market conditions.

Maybe a dumb question, but why go Norinco when you can get a Vector for the same, or less?

I like the Centuryarms model as well, and it is a contender if I can find one. I disagree about Norinco quality, my nhm 91 ak is pretty well made and I have have never had a jam or misfire, same can be said for norinco sks, they just seem to work. That said, that is what the prices are right now. I know a guy who just paid $550 for a Norinco sks at a gun show here in MT. I actually think the Norinco and the Century Arms are fairly comparable. From my personal experience I was not happy with a Century ARMS 308 I used to have, it continually malfunctioned.

I don't think it's a good time to buy, too much gouging. I ordered some basic AK 47 ( all ready $100.00 more than last year) for 599.00 in November. The same gun is now listed for $999.00.

I have personal experience with the first company. No offence meant but I'd never go for the Norinco unless it was under $500. And maybe even then.

No offence taken. I am now interested in the Vector from kelly Ent. thanks. I just have personally had good performance from Norinco. I am telling you, Norinco UZI;s are going for $750 and up, but that is just the market.
Thanks

Norinco ak's & sks are china's military weapons, so much more care went into making them. Norinco 320, however, was purely created for export. The 320 I purchased is no exception. Had to replace almost every part with either IMI or US (922r). The receiver is basically the same (almost) as the original, so when you switch parts it's a new gun. How much do you want spend determines what way to go.

Interesting, after discovering these boards and Kelly Ent. now I am pretty set on the Vector, I am just trying to determine which one I want.

I just got in a basic parkerized one, haven't been able to shoot it yet but didn't see any cosmetic issues. It came with a Hebrew lower if that makes a difference to you - I prefer it but others might prefer english markings. You may have to wait for the guns to come in, my full size arrived but I'm waiting on my mini.

Cool, thanks I am leaning towards the full size pistol. I like the mini too but that is stretching my budget to much. When I started looking, I wanted the rifle style, but now the full size pistol is more appealing to me. I dont mind waiting, for the price they are offering. Plus that gives me something to look forward to.
So glad I have found these boards, and thanks for steering me to Kelly Ent.

I would go with a full size carbine instead of the pistol, especially if you aren't SBRing it!

Trust me, an 8.5 lb pistol just ain't gonna be fun for very long at the range. ;)

I'd agree - I handled one briefly and it didn't seem like much fun. If you do go for the Vector (no matter which one) I'd appreciate if you let Kelly know how you were linked to them (both me and this forum!)

Thanks for the info. Hey, could I get the full size pistol, and just get a folding stock to mount, then you could have best of both worlds, pistol, and short barrel rifle?

You have to register the gun as a SBR first - in which case you may as well just buy a factory SBR. With a SBR you could take the stock off completely...I just don't know why. Try holding a full size Uzi carbine with the stock folded - as if it was a pistol. Not that fun after a while. Slightly lighter with the actual pistol due to no stock and a shorter barrel but still. DON'T put a stock on a pistol without registering it as an SBR FIRST.

Just my two centavos; go with the folding stock. It's far simpler to change the barrel (less than a minute) than mounting a stock. Just make sure you go through the SBR paperwork BEFORE ordering the shorter barrel....otherwise you will be in violation for "intent".

BTW - I love my Vector - I've never regretted buying it - 10,00+ rounds through it and it just keeps getting better. The only thing I've had to replace is an extractor (I shoot a lot of steel-case).

One of the two reasons I've wanted a Uzi for a long time, the other being that I first saw one in NYC (!) of all places, at a now closed gun dealer called Alpine Arms. I was a kid at the time but was greatly impressed (he also had one of the first laser sighted guns, also much like in Terminator).

Reloader, on the off chance that you're a past Mr. Universe, then go for the Uzi as a pistol.
