I am taking a poll of how many UZI owners out there (Semi or Auto) would be interested in having UZI shooting events in Northern Va. My goal is to identify a place to hold such events and establish a shooting course to let us have some fun with our UZIs and get the most out of shooting.

Anyone out there intersted? With your response please state if your UZI is Semi or Ful-Auto to get an idea of the type of couses we should focus on?

Thompson4433, How would opening it up to other SMG typs such as Tommy, Mac, etc? I am thinking it should be limited to pistol calibers carbine/smg classes: .380, 9mm, 45.
If we can find some spots to hold such events, we should work up a point system for participants to score, and work up to a championship event. Nothing fancy or too troublesome, but more for fun and a test of one's abilities. I am kind of getting bored shooting paper and bottles against my wife (I am just barely out-shooting her). If we have SA compete against FA, we would have to come up with a course that would balance out advantages and disadvatages (if possible). Any thoughts?

Count me in.
Both my FA Full size and Mini have only been fired at indoor ranges (and paper) :(

Sure, sounds great. I was just thinking that limiting it to UZIs might make it a lot harder to find members.

So this is a type course of fire I am thinking of:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5s2drDRNVE
On the last target, I would like to have a max range target at 100 such a gong plate. Rounds would have to be limited to even the playing field for SA and FA competing against each other, but not to the point of prohibiting FA select fire capability. Can I get some votes on this?

If you are promoting a simple/small subgun match, I would seriously consider allowing other shooters. Subgun shoots are limited in availability and to go through all the time and effort to put this together and not invite other subgun shooters doesn't really help promote and grow the sport.

However, if you are just interested in having an Uzi only get together, then the above doesn't really matter.

Medphys, I am definitely interested in allowing all subgun shooters of subgun calibers. This is my attempt to promote subgun SA / FA shooting fun. I am currently working on a course of fire for the sub guns and hope to have something sketched out this week. If anyone could reach out to other subgun groups, maybe we can see which other subgun shooters would be interested in organizing such events. Maybe some Kriss, Thompson, Mac, HK, Colt SMG, etc. shooters would be interested in these events.

Not to rain on your parade but where do you plan on having this? I ask because I cannot think of any “local” ranges that would allow FA, let alone moving while shooting. Aside from that I’m interested depending upon location and might be able to lend a hand setting up, scoring and what not.

Sharpshooters (used to be Gilberts) in Lorton allows FA, but it would be just paper targets and no movement - not ideal but could be a start. They have been pretty NFA friendly especially once they started selling suppressors and SBRs, and might be helpful in setting something up or recommending a place. Mark and Tim are the two NFA guys there.
