NOT FIRING

I went to the range yesterday and on my third shot I pulled the trigger and no bang! I had seen this before with this gun after not shooting it for a while ( storage 4 months ). I gently touched the charging handle expecting the gun to fire and it did ( expecting from past experience ). The gun then misfired again until the charging handle was touched ( not pulled ). I then fired another 40 rounds wihtout incident as expected from the prior occurences. Each time this has happened the gun had not been fired from 2-5 months. The gun was thoroughly stripped and cleaned when this happened a year ago and I stopped using grease only oil now! I am losing confidence, any suggestions???

Was it cold where you were shooting? Grease and cold do go together well.

Sounds like your top cover may be too tight causing your bolt to pinch your striker against the bottom of the receiver?

It was cold and as the post says no grease was used

I brought some .005 and .010 feelers home from work to check the top cover, what should the clearance be?

Between .005-.015- .010 would be perfect

I always get a little bigger during the winter, maybe your bolt has the same problem.

Its supposed to warm into the 40's tomorrow, I will check the top cover and go back to the range for testing!

I checked my clearance and it was barely .005, I tweaked it and it is now .010 - .011! I only had time for 75 rounds at the range but it functioned 100%!

My top cover is also a little tight. What did you do to "tweak"?

I simply put the middle on a pliable rounded surface and applied pressure to the 2 ends to Bend it. I would not "tweak " it unless you are having issues !
