Hi everyone. I wanted to share our upcoming event with the forum. Its our 2nd annual "Big Bore Blast" MG/DD shoot. Located in Garrettsville Ohio at Southington Hunt Club.

While nothing will ever replace KCR. We are doing our best to emulate a bit of that magic that we all miss.

We have 200+ft firing line of cannons. Machineguns, mortars, etc. Multiple other bays with machinegun rentals, a jungle run, and vendor demos. A military vehicle/reenactor area. A vendor area for people and companies to set up canopies and tables to sell or advertise their stuff. And more.

We hope to see you there. Our website is linked below, but feel free to ask any questions.

Jake (spc fish/sgt fish on other forums)

Would have likely taken a main line spot but I see they are all sold out already.

Unfortunately/fortunately? They sold out in 12 hours after being posted publicly. There is a short wait list for cancelations.

There will also be other ranges open during the event. A MG rental range, a grenade launcher range, a jungle walk, and possibly a SMG/PCC range set up as a beginner competition stage.

I was looking at bringing some of my belt fed guns out.

I’m also glad you posted the dates for this as I’m planning on changing the Ohio SubGun match to a two day event twice a year in 2026 with dates being in April and Oct (like the Creek did)

We aren't planning on adding a fall shoot yet. But that is one of the reasons that we moved it to april, so that it is a possibility. But there are a few other events at Southington in the fall that I and the other volunteers attend.

How many stages do you typically run for the SMG competitions? I haven't been able to make it to one yet.

Hang on: both you guys are doing April 25th? That’s not good….

Also, the spots being “sold out”… does that mean leave the toys at home? Last year it was sort of “help yourself”, so the boy and I fired away at the boat until our ammo ran dry, then move on so someone else could have a turn.

Wasn’t by choice but the dates are what they are for me to be able to make an April and Oct events this year.

Man….

So choices are the big bore, but can’t shoot, or the small bore that happens 2x.

Rich people problems I guess. How about this John: set up a really dumb target we can just wack with whatever we bring. 40mm, can launcher, belt-fed…. Flamethrower…. Whatever goofy thing hides in the back of your safe. 2 points if you hit the target, 3points for style.

Hey Frank, we are opening up the second range off to the left of the main line. This will be a walk-up range for general attendees to shoot at. Its similar to the main line, but closer to 100yds instead of 200, and no reserved positions. Our event is also very family friendly. So we dont have to explain to our wives why we are leaving the her with the kids for the day.

The big bore blast is only on Saturday, so maybe you can compete on friday?

Kinda blows though. Guncon did the same thing last year, announcing their event after ours.

I was at the mercy of when I could get range days as I went to a two event schedule this year instead of a single event in the summer. It is what it is, not sure how many would be wanting to do both events

Have a nice list of vendors signed up so far. Here is a list of some highlights.

ARMAMENT RESEARCH TECH SERVICES
BENGLES BULLETS
LAUNCHERPOPE
PRECISION PYRO SUPPLY
The AK ARMORY

Plus a handful more. Waiting to hear back from a few other big vendors.

If they do a gun show type vendors section like Knob Creek I would be totally in. Honestly I liked the shooting but loved the gun show part. That was the biggest draw to me. All the vendors that for some reason would only come to the creek.

Well I have good news for you. There is a vendor section. We have a decent number of vendors signed up, but the KCR show wasnt built overnight, so expect the vendor attendance to grow every year. We have about 4-6x the number of vendors as last year.

General admission prices are going up a little tomorrow. So buy now to save a few bucks.

Also, the KPV and MK19 should be back on the firing line this year. Ohio Ordnance Works will also be there in addition to many other companies and gu show sellers. I believe we have at least 5. But more likely 6 or 7 cannons on the main firing line(not counting 14.5-20mm guns)

Signed up! Hoping my form 4 clears in time. Planning on stocking up on 40mm supplies either way. Looking forward to learning about 60mm too.

Look forward to having you there! WCMG will have a few cases of chalk rounds available. AZAO, Bengles Bullets, and others should have ammo and components for loading 40mm.
