So after much thought, consideration, and convincing (maybe some arm twisting) I have some new on the Ohio SubGun Match for 2025-I am going to try something different this coming year, I will run this event as a TWO DAY match....yes I said TWO DAY EVENT with a total of SIX classes with which a shooter can shoot up to FOUR classes (obviously two per day) I will be using some of the Knob Creek methods on this so work with me on this as I am hashing out many of the details:

Classes-

Open Bolt Iron
Open Bolt Optic
Closed Bolt Iron
Closed Bolt Optic
Unlimited
PCC

Runs will be $40 per person this year so as to give back more to the club given the ranges will be tied up for an extra day, as well as to cover the additional supplies, awards, etc. The shoot dates are TBD (most likely will still be in June) but I am planning for the shoot days to be a Friday-Saturday combination so Sunday can be a travel and R&R day (yes for me too) I will be keeping it to 4 squads again this year with a 10 person per squad cap, so the cap will be 160 runs if the squads all fill to capacity.

Food again will be on site for putchase and I will try to get hotel rooms blocked off for shooters. I am not sure on the night fire or not as I will have my hands full with the two day event. I am working on stages now as I had a few ideas pop into my head over the weekend.

Again this will be a two day match where people can shoot up to FOUR classes in two days. Break out your open and closed bolt guns, or rock out the one gun you have and shoot acordingly. Example-only have an Uzi...shoot the open bolt classes, unlimited and PCC. One gun, four classes, lots of fun to be had. More will follow.....

You’re already down to 39 slots. I am in !!!
The night shoot seemed like it was a real pain the butt to ride herd on. Idiots turning on headlights and crap while guys are using nv. I will miss the hangout time, but not the debacle of watching inconsiderate/ignorant people park right up against the range cover and leave during the shoot.

This sounds like great fun. I will be planning to be there in 2025 as well. I would like to make one suggestion. Add another category where we can use drums. Right now that is just unlimited. I don't know what that would be. Classic maybe? I have a Suomi configuration for my BRP. I would be happy to run that with drums and iron sights in "Classic Division." Just an idea, but the more drum dumps the better. I would like to be able to use drums on 2 divisions or the 4 I am sure I will end up shooting.

Thanks!!!

I second his idea. I love me drums!!! I was already contemplating shooting unlimited 2 or 3 times and just using my best score. I like Landric’s idea better. Kinda how i picked my guns was based on ability to use high capacity feeding devices.

With any kind of event coordination, you have to ride the line between chaos and rules overload. I didn't find it particularly objectionable, but the night shoot probably erred a bit on the free-wheeling side of things. When I headed out I did a little dance to keep my truck lights off and crept out to the road before lighting up -- but any new participant (like me) wouldn't have had any idea about where to park or when/how to leave when going in. I take your point and don't disagree with your frustration, but I don't think this is an issue that a little bit of communication and planning couldn't easily solve.

No

A PCC is shot as a semi auto rifle, SBR, or a SubGun with selector set to semi auto only…so none of the gimmick triggers FRT, binary, or SS.

Hmmm. Camping? I have been looking for an excuse to drag out the 10man tent. All the Air B&B’s dried up last time I checked.

I really want to bring some swap/junk I have lying around, but don’t want to be an old fart babysitting a table. I’m there to play.

I’m sure camping accommodations could be arranged for that.

I’ll think on the idea of maybe having some tables for sell/swap of parts, gear and such. It’s not a terrible idea.

Just FYI, Woodlands and CQB Brutality matches are Memorial Day weekend in West Virginia. There probably isn’t a lot of overlap of attendees, but you might want to avoid that weekend just in case.

ETA: My son and I are shooting the brutality matches that weekend, 5/23-5/26/2025, so there is at least that overlap. We have already paid, so we are locked in.
