Have a look at what I just spotted on gunbroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=259912909

It looks like it may be one of the legendary first 100 Galils imported.
No model number...marked 7.62mm... no MR serial number... marked Galil Semi-Auto above the scope notch... and the left side selector slot looks modified from a full auto selector. Also notice the 2 small rivets in front of the Magnum Research markings! The only thing the buyer doesn't have is the paperwork stating it is One of One Hundred. I have never seen a rifle like this before!

I saw the gunbroker ad also. Looks like a FA receiver reweld by the serial #, but I don't know. Interested in hearing more info on this Galil. If it is a reweld, it looks like it was done nicely as you can't see any evidence of the welds. I wonder if Jeff M has any insight on this galil.

That would be cool if it were. After having been screwed with a .308 Galil buy from gunbroker a couple of years ago, I am now a little suspicious when I see a lot of exterior photos, and none of the working parts.

I checked into this further. I guess it isn't a FA reweld. Magnum Research never sold a FA galil so it must be an very early import as it doesn't have the MR letters before the serial #. Could be a nice addition to someones galil collection.

Agreed. Price isn't so bad either, $2400-2700 seems like the going rate for Model 331's... and that this is probably the rarest were ever going to see. I would hop on this if I had the cash. I wonder if the owner kept it NIB, he doesn't mention condition at all.

Unfortunately, Magnum Research's database only goes back to 1987. The serial number did not come up with anything.

From looking at pictures of the internal parts, bolt face, chamber and receiver; there is some wear and it hasn't been cleaned.

In all of my research; the sniper's start with a "9"; but are in the same configuration as this one.

I could not remember the first number, but did recall a similar SN sequence!!! :thinking
PM'ed you back on the other. :thumbs_up

What are the two rivets for?

I believe that the rivets mean the ejector has been replaced. Here is a photo of my replacement Galil ejector. It can be found in the Galil library( a pretty good source of Galil info,& its right here on Uzi talk!).

I contacted the seller and we agreed on a price of $2750 shipped. I got stuck in the OR and couldn't call in my credit card until that afternoon. When I got them on the phone, they had already sold it out from under me.
