I received my 7.62 YHM Phantom with a QD mount a month or so ago. I bought it to use it with a rem 700 in 300 whisper. I am ready to order the rifle and want to order a scope and rings at the same time so I can go play with it right away. I have been reading about scopes but still don't know what I will use so I need the advice of experience. At first I thought I would buy a .22LR scope because I'll shoot the 300 subsonic but realized the ballistic coefficient of the .22LR and 300 are so different it would probably not be a good choice. I can't find anything specifically made for a 300 Whisper or subsonic. I don't know how to use mil dots but I can learn how. I know I will shoot 200 yds and fairly sure 300 yds probably not more but would like the capability of shooting further and maybe even test its claim of accuracy out to 600 yds one day. The Rem 700 is a varmit SPS. 16.75 inch DOUGLAS PREMIUM Match 1/8 twist stainless steel barrel with the action trued, Bolt Face Trued, Bolt luggs lapped in, Trigger set at 3 lbs. Altogether I'll have a couple thousand in the rifle and suppressor. I'm looking for a good value in a scope.

I hope I don't get banned for long and rambling posts.

Shadow,

I use a fixed 4 power Pentex rifle scope on my 50 THUMPER which has close to the same trajectory as the Whisper. You will find most subsonic rifles have close to the same trajectory. The 4 power is nice because at 500 yards you can hold over the 23 feet and still see your target because the field of view is so large.

Get a good rifle scope (not the most expensive one). A lower power scope works well with the subsonics for holdover. You can get a good 3-9 power scope cheeper then just about anything else. Whick 9 powere is nice to look at your target.

All my bolt gun scopes are Leupold’s with TMR. My 300 is a very similar to what you have described. I currently have a VX3 with M1 knobs, but they are a pain to use because of the amount of adjustment necessary for the trajectory. When I get around to it I will replace the current scope with a MK4 Med Range TMR with M3 knobs. I use a 20 MOA rail and can without exception hit a 12” plate at 400 yards with my current set up.

Has any one considered a Shepherd Scope?
I understand thier 3-10x 22Lr has the proper drop reticles for the 300whisper.
