Original IMI Uzi Old Demil

I'm sure this has been covered but what's the legality of those very old Uzi receivers bandsaw cut once down the Middle? I've read other places the cuts do not need to be updated to current demil standard.

There are people on here who think Fed laws ain't no big deal. BE SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Call the ATF 800-283-4867. They are pretty easy going and will give you the straight info.

I'm a new member to the community, figured I could get insight from other members. I've seen lots of different threads about the subject & have no intentions on owning one. Parts kits are popping up all over right now in this (demilled) configuration with one cut to the rear or down the middle?

I am pretty sure that if it met the standards for demil at the time it remains good to go even though the standards have since changed.

If I was buying one to rebuild as a semi, I'd have a blocking bar welded into it about an hour after it arrived in the mail......

About 90% of those "saw cut" kits you see for sale used to be torch cut , were rewelded, and then "old spec demilled" last week......

A fellow in TX ran afoul of the ATF for this exact same thing with "saw cut" Uzi receivers within the last year or two.....

The only single cut Uzi receivers I ever remember coming in the country were thru Armscorp in MD.......FN and IMI......and they were pretty much sold out by 1995

You see them on GB from time to time just cut in half with a hacksaw or like. Those you see on GB seem to be American made receiver's, not imports? for a while someone ( well known in the uzi community) was selling them with the rear 1 or 2" removed.

Text on the stub, but no text on the main chunk of receiver. Appears to be an example of the stated above - once demilled and rebuild, followed by single cut demill.

Some people seem blind to this fact. I've seen "saw cut" guns on gunbroker people go nuts for, but when by looking closely you can tell it's a poorly demilled postie.

my parts kit has the receiver cut into 3 pieces and none are matching (from 3 different guns)....not sure if they make it easy to put back together as to cut it once and give you both sides that match up(but i dont know).....my parts kit was pretty much from a brand new gun....all parts are flawless and it was dirt cheap

I actually noticed that myself . It's hard to tell where that came from . You're probably right , been saw cut a couple of times .
