I don't know if I posted this on the correct forum but I have a question about selling firearms. My FFL dealer says it's okay to sell to another person if I send the firearm to the buyer's dealer after I receive a copy of his FFL license. He said it's not necessary that I use a dealer to ship to another dealer (I'm not talking about handguns). I've sold C&R firearms to collectors after they sent me a copy of their license but what about modern rifles and carbines?

Absolutely unnecessary to engage a dealer on your end for transfer of either a handgun or long gun. Some receiving dealers will only accept a delivery from another dealer but there is no federal requirement for them to do so. You can send the gun via common carrier (not USPS). HTH!

Also, since you aren't a dealer it's not required that you get a copy of his FFL before you ship the gun to him, though you certainly can if you don't know the dealer and want to verify that he's an FFL holder.
